How exciting Happy New Year to the Marketos wanderers!!!!! I wish you adventure, laughter, fun and happiness all year long! Sounds like you are having a wonderful time. Certainly a very different scenery to what we have seen in SA. I LOVE the photos, and quite envious of your travels.
We have just spent 3 weeks at Rons beautiful home in the Drakensburg Mountains. I thought of you there Paul as Ron climber Montisorsis and had to climb a 40ft steel ladder up a rock face. You have probably done the climb! It was an 8 hr hike. I decided to stay at home and paint!!!
I wrote to you before on this site but it didnt show up on the comments page, so dont know if you got it??
Talking of kids getting at each others throats....Once when Brendon and Ashley were about 4 and 5, they were in the car and Brendon was causing grief with Ash, I repeatedly told them to stop it. It carried on, so I stopped the car, pulled Brendon out and drove off. I only drove about 200 mtrs and stopped. He was distraught. I told him that I would only let him back in the car if he promised to behave......no more problems!!......Cruel Mother, but it worked a treat!!
I am so enjoying reading about your experiences.
Have fun. Give the boys a hug from me.
Lots love to you all
Jax

Happy New Year Hi Guys, Just got back from our cruise to NZ and caught up with your blog - which makes mine look very ordinary. It looks like you're well sorted for your trip - which I can assure you is going to be a lot of fun (most of the time)
I've just watched us (Poms) finish off Australia in the test series - I must remember to be very humble amongst my Australian Friends.
We're looking forward to catching up with you all when you get to NSW.

Happy 2011 Hi to the Marketos clan. I am enjoying your blog very much! Ian & I have been in Magalies and returned today. As always we feel rejuvenated and whole after time in nature. Wishing you a very adventurous and happy 2011. Keep breathing! Love Jenny
Merry Christmas Love the pics of the caravan, it looks quite luxurious inside. We are missing you in Joburg, especially Grant as he has been very lonely these last few days but I go on leave later today and it is off to the coast on Tuesday to spend some time at Blue Horizon Bay with my family and then to set Richard up for his new school, Grey.
We will also be celebrating Christmas tonight (Mom-in-laws German tradition) so when I leave work at 12 today it is going to be rush rush rush but well worth it. Steve has bought a lovely Christmas album so the music has been getting us all in the mood for the festivities. Send our love to the boys and let them know that they are missed but the adventure is well worth it and the weather in Joburg has been awful so they aren't missing much this side. To you and Paul all the best for Monday's big set off.
Merry Xmas Hi Guys,
Hope you all have a Merry Xmas. Do you have a good explanation for the kids as to why Santa's accent has changed to an Ozzie one since last year?
Dennis
Work bench Danke. Euch auch ein tolles Weihnachten und hoffe das die Geschenke auch wirklich klitzeklein bleiben. Und auch einen guten Rutsch. Hope you don't get to use that "work bench" too much - or alternatively re-christen it. R
Get Travellin' I'm anxiously awaiting the start of your journey.
I will be following you with envy. You are doing what I would love to do again.
We spent 3 months, 19,000km travelling anti-clockwise a couple of years ago.
Enjoy your journey.

I am an Aussie who has been living in Johannesburg for the past 11 years, with my South African husband Paul and our three sons (Oliver, 9, William, 7, and Quinton, 4). Deciding that it was high time our boys got to see my country, we have decided to spend a year travelling around Australia and are currently somewhere in this beautiful land, in our caravan.... full info
