Thankyou for sharing and a Happy New Year Hi Guys, when I 1st began reading your blog about 12 months ago, I thought 'too much detail' but as the year progressed - I thought "tell me more" ... so I guess that I got involved in your travels ... it brought back fond memories too of my 2.5 year trip - many years ago. So a BIG THANK YOU for your often informative and exciting blog. Wish you and yours all the very best for 2012 and the years ahead - this a fantastic trip will be a lifetime memory for all your family. All the best as you continue to build your memories back in South Africa. Continue to enjoy your travels and I salute your endeavour. Congratulations on your fine achievements while in Australia. Happy Christmas and great New Year
mixed emotions Alexa, I can here the reluctant tone in your writing, it will be sad to leave Australia after this incredible trip. While you have been enjoying your home country I've been enjoying Paul's for the 1st time in a similar way and the only thing I might warn you of is the danger that you'll be looking to buy a caravan as soon as you land and take off 2012 to tour SA. We've both been blessed and I have you to thank for it. Can't wait to see you - you look fantastic in the photos - not long now. Happy Christmas to you all and thanks for the brilliant updates along the way in this very fast year. Vx
compliments your last report was probably one of the best and we will be missing the updates ! We wish you a good rest with your family in Perth and look forward to see you back in S.A. best wishes also for the festive season Kurt S.
Thank you! Dear Marketoses,
Thank you for sharing your amazing journey with us. I have followed it all with such interest, amazement and deep deep jealousy, and I cannot believe it is all over already. Never has a year gone so quickly!
We are desperately trying to wind up the business side of 2011 so we can prepare for Christmas (and write a decent letter to everyone) before 2012 gets here first. We look forward to seeing you back in South Africa. I think you should continue to blog - I would be fascinated to hear how you adapt to suburbia after such adventure!
Lots of love,
Helena

Can't you keep up this lifestyle forever??? great writing Alexa. cant wait to get to ningaloo myself now. have really enjoyed sharing your adventures. the boys are 'funny as' and enjoyed meeting all the interesting folk you met along the way. Australia is in the blood of the mighty Quinn, Oliver and William now. You'll be torn to return to S.A. lots of love Bronnie.
Saving the best for last Thank you once again for all the photo's and sharing your wonderful experiences. The sea looks so inviting and compared to all the crowded beaches, you guys have found paradise on those quiet sands!!
Lots of love. See you soon!
Hello from Cable Beach! We have been missing you guys, so it was really nice to read your blog and check out all your most recent pics! Oliver did a fantastic job with the photography of the Goanna and Alexa we love your camel pics too :-)
We are still in Broome and plan to leave early next week. We're still unsure if we will head into Karijini, and after reading your blog I guess it will depend on the temperature at the time. It does look amazing though and the rewarding swim at the end of the walks would be worth the hard work for sure.
Cory has been out fishing in a tinny with another guy from the caravan park. They caught 1 mud crab, a cod, salmon and a few whiting. Fresh fish for dinner, Yum!! We have also been surfing at Cable Beach twice now as the swell picked up to about 2/3 foot and the waves were breaking quiet clean. We are planning to do the camel ride on Friday afternoon. We also enjoyed Red Dog at the Sun Pictures after William and Oliver's recommendation. Now we're excited to see the statue in Dampier! Cory also played at the markets last week and is booked there again this weekend, along with another gig at Matso's Brewery on Sunday. I have been working everyday so it will be nice to replenish our funds a little before we head south.
We're sure you will be enjoying the last few weeks on the road and wish you the best of luck for the remainder of the trip. Looking forward to your next bolg.
Take care, love Brooke and Cory
Still gobsmacked at your adventure! Hey Alexa! I just got back from 11 days working in Brisbane. (Jabu, of course, asked if I had seen you while i was in Australia! Sweet! She has no idea how big the place is!) Your adventure continues to warm my heart. It's truly a beautiful and wondrous thing to see the photos of you all having the time of your life as a family! I have no idea how you will EVER manage to live a regular, routine life in suburbia again!!?!? Enjoy the remaining weeks. Ridge Road misses you!
Crazy Cats! Hello you crazy cats- entering a dark tunnel with crocs?!?! Love hearing all your adventures, keeps me entertained and makes me very very jealous! Lots of love, Marie xx
awesome! Just love seeing all your pics and reading about your adventures! The boys are growing so fast and looking so big! Seeing how relaxed and happy you all look, i'm not sure if we're EVER going to have you back in the 'hood! :-)
Will Ina take up swagging? Thank you Alexa for taking the time to send us a blog. I was so excited to get two postcards today, one from Oliver and one from William. I will write to them. Hope you enjoyed your show. Lots of love.
Jeanette
Alexa, your photographs are just too beautiful and I so enjoy reading about your adventure. Are you going to be able to tear yourself away from it when the time comes? I am not so sure I could if I were you. You are so lucky to be spending such quality time with your four boys! Please say hi to Paul for me and tell him to have a great time in NZ. He may bump into Rod - he has decided that he has to go too!
I am an Aussie who has been living in Johannesburg for the past 11 years, with my South African husband Paul and our three sons (Oliver, 9, William, 7, and Quinton, 4). Deciding that it was high time our boys got to see my country, we have decided to spend a year travelling around Australia and are currently somewhere in this beautiful land, in our caravan.... full info
