Form Portobelo we managed to find a small 30ft yacht to do the trip to Cartagena, most of the trips do 2 days in San Blas, but our slightly strage, captain, John. P. OConnor likes to do it over 7 or so days so that was a little bonus. We set out at night hoping to wake up at the untouched San Blas Islands without any problems at about 9 in the morning. Unfortunatally there was more Lumber in the ocean then the whole of ireland and we had to do many night watches to make sure we did not hit [View Full Entry]

Well another month another entry...... So the Boarder was about as much fun as drinking a cup of cold sick, but Finally we made it through and with a little help from our new found friend, we were able to skip the line for the taxis. The taxi took us to a boat to head out to the beautiful Boscas Del Toro island group. The Taxi boat driver should have been in a jet boat, he was some driver. There were so many logs in the small canals, and to get round he would just turn the boat at the last [View Full Entry]

Well once again I have gone way over my hoped once a week entey and I think about 1 month has passed since my last entry....needless to say the last month has been action packed. Let me start way back towards the end of July when a ropy Mandeno picked himself out of his "Plush" bedroom of the Train spotting style apartment in Quito at 5am after only 1 hour sleep. I made it to Quito internationl airport without any drama and the 1st flight to Panama went fast due to the fact that I slept and only woke up upon [View Full Entry]

The work

South America » Peru » La Libertad » Trujillo
Hi All Been 2 weeks or so since I had a little tap at the old and somewhat crusty keybord here in Tujillo. To fill you in, Well firstly have started the volunteering in Bruce Peru, the day consists of getting up at about half 7, sometimes making rolls for the children and then at about 8.30 we head off to one of the 5 locations to help teach. Most of the locations are in the shanty towns on the outskirts of Tujillo, few have running water or power but that is something I have come to expect. In general [View Full Entry]

Trujillo

Hey People Had a shocking day yestarday, after talking to Aerolineas about my flights on the way into Sao Paulo and them assuring me that they were ok what happens when I go to check in. Naturally at the connecting flights in Buenos Aries dont connect by a matter of an hour. So insted of the 3 hour wait for my flight I am bumped onto Gol, Brazil's equivelent to Ryan Air, and fly direct to Lima arriving at 1am. Once again flight takes off 2 hours late, after a 10 hour wait at Sao Paulo, and a 5 hour flight [View Full Entry]

People You will be please to know I arrived in Sao Paulo in 1 piece, Sao Paulo is a crazy town, not to much to see but there is a certain culture here with suits, corner sellers and beggers all mixing into the big mess of a city which is Sao Paulo. Found a hotel without any trouble, real dark place in the center of town, one of the guide books said that it was full of europeans, as far as I can tell I am the only guest, but its cheap and central (in the republica) so I guess that [View Full Entry]
