"Not All Who Wonder Are Lost."

I've always wanted to travel around the U.S. with no real plan or time limits. And now I am. My boyfriend and I just bought an RV. We're about to hit the open road. This will be the blog to follow our adventures. Enjoy...

I left Bishop at the beginning of November to do some family stuff. Getting from Bishop to the airport in Vegas 5 hours away became....tricky. Well, why not take a bus? There's a bus that runs from Bishop to Reno. That's about 5 hours. Bishop is just south of Mammoth, a skiers mecca. A bus would be the simple solution. Yeah. My dad spent hours on the phone with the everyone in Bishop including the Chamber of Commerce to find a way from Bishop California to Las Vegas Nevada. There is no bus. When my dad asked, "Why???" The lovely lady informed my dad that they'd have to go over a mountain range. Oh. Ok. Duh!? But, I can catch a bus from Bishop, take a 5 hour drive to Reno, THEN catch a bus to ... read more

We hit the road leaving Tahoe behind and headed to the next destination. Bishop CAlifornia. Just past Yosemite and West of Death Valley. We took our time on the 4 hour drive. We stopped and had lunch, took some pictures of Mono Lake, walked around Lee Vining...then we hit Bishop. A cool little town, a nice Main Street with a lot of shops. We drove from beginning to end in about a minute and a half (we got the green lights!). At the end of Main st., off Hwy 395 we took our right onto 168 on our way to the Buttermilks, a "climbing mecca." After an elevation change of a thousand feet or so we came to a dirt road called...you guessed it! Buttermilk Rd. We turn onto the road, which starts off smooth ... read more

Last weekend we made it to San Francisco!! Out of the woods and into...diversity!?...culture!?...something different!! Its safe to say, I had a blast! I have to go back someday, when I have more time (and $$$!). We got a ride there with a friend of a friend. The trip from South Lake Tahoe to San Francisco should take 4 hours. It took us 8. Long story. Not worth getting into. We got there after dark. Adam and I had planned on staying with my friend Jimmy, and we had no problem finding his place. Thank GOD! It was good seeing Jimmy. He's all growed up! Aw! He lives in Haight Ashbury. Lots to see. We kept it simple. We went for pizza, then went to bed. Saturday morning Adam, myself, Laurie and Darren walked to Golden ... read more

Well, tomorrow we leave Fallen Leaf Campground. Thursday was my last day of work. I think I shall miss scrubbing the poopers! No, really, I will miss the campground and the folks I worked with. Katie left last week. Back to Washington. Her site looks so empty. Yesterday a Winnibego (sp?) parked there. Doesn't look right. Anyway. We won't be leaving Tahoe right away. We'll probably bounce around for a few weeks. I'm hoping that next weekend we go to San Francisco! There's a free 3 day Bluegrass festival going on! What fun!! Plus, I'd be able to see Jimmy and see SAN FRAN!! We'd be foolish not to go. I have a new fondness for frogs. Weird, I know. But they are everywhere at the campground. Mostly they stick to the showers. I just think ... read more

Sorry, its been awhile. But finally I have some pictures! Ok, I'll make this quick, otherwise, i could go on for ever. I work for California Land Management. Basically, I keep the camp ground clean. We live for free, with full hookups and I get paid. So its worth it. I love the people I work with. They're awesome! We have critters living in the rig. Some just come to visit, steal Kalibs food and then leave. So far, I've seen a squirrel, a chipmunk and mice. So far no bears. Thankfully. I've been attacked by bee's. I've seen waterfalls and lakes and trees and little people. No I'm not crazy I just don't know how to explain it. I've been to the Casino's and looked at the pretty lights and not gambled (pat on the ... read more

Most of the time that I was home I worked. BUT, I did get to go to 2 Red Sox games. The first was against the New York Yankees! It was also, my very first time at Fenway (believe it or not!!!). First of all, Fenway Park-WOW! What a feeling. I can't descibe it. I almost cried. (I do that a lot.) Its just amazing. I went with two of my most favoritest people. Jason and Chris. We ate Remdogs (next time I'll stick with the Fenway frank)-it was good, but a little much. We drank beer, mmm beer. Lotsa beer. Helloooooo, we were at a Red Sox game. I must say, what a way to introduce me to the park. A Red Sox Yankees game!! Not ONLY was it a Sox/Yankees game, but it ... read more

It's been awhile since I've updated. Sorry! Things have changed a bit. I have come home to Cape Cod and Adam is in Tahoe. Adam and I last saw each other in Pacific Grove. We were there visiting my friend Nate for a week. We had a blast! Mostly we walked around, saw the sights. Its a very nice area. One day Nate took us wine tasting. That was fun. I'm not one for wine, I'm more of a beer kinda gal, so I wasn't to into the twirling and sniffing of the wine. I just drank what they gave me. Its all the same to me! Towards the end of our weeks stay I decided I wanted to come home. I needed a break from the lack of money and the RV. Plus, my grammy ... read more

Truly one of the most spectacular roads in the world, Coast Highway One wends along the California coastline. At times, it dares the ocean to pluck it away from its delicate perch and dash it into the frothing waves. In other places, it softly floats along the shoreline, and you seem to merge with the ocean and pelicans as they gracefully breeze by. This is Californias' first scenic highway, it was dedicated as such by Mrs.Lyndon B. Johnson at the famous Bixby bridge on Sep.21,1966. The official span of the scenic highway was designated as running from San Louis Obispo to Monterey. The range of vistas along the coast is extraordinary from soft white sandy beaches in the south, the coast undergoes some remarkable changes, as it proceeds north. Just after the Hearst castle near Cambria, ... read more

This has to be quick...short on battery life. We climbed at Cabrillo Peak. I had two tries at a 5.8 climb (harder than the one I freaked out on). On my second try, I made it! Adam ran laps, climbing as many routes off two different topropes as possible. Then we went back to Morro Bay, so I could walk around the harbour. SO glad that we did!! I saw Rachel Ray!! MY fav Food Network star. She's like my idol. I was to embarrased to stop her and get a picture. I'm an idiot. I wish now that I had. From there we drove to what we meant to be San Simeon State Park. We took a wrong turn, and ended up in Cambria. It was dark, and we just parked on a pull off ... read more
