Travel Period: 22 Dec 2008 - 02 Jan 2009 Xmas I spent 4 days in Fred's place for Xmas - to experience the mid night church singing and praying, though I understand nothing. We went to the church at 9pm and came back by 12am, then start eating 'dinner' at 1am. After 'dinner' it was the most exciting part of the whole festive season - opening the presents. By the time we finished all it's nearly 3am, I was exhausted (of doing nothing). Ski After xmas we were heading to Pyreenee Orientales, part of the mountain range that separate France and Spain. This is the natural barrier that keep these 2 countries separated and not to be invaded easily in the past. We stayed in a chalet in Bolquere, but we also visited Font Romeu at ... read more

Travel Period: 25 - 26 May 2008 Crossing the border from Geneva to Charmonix couldn't be easier. It's only 1 hour by bus. I went there purely because it's so close to Geneva and I wanted to see this popular skii place. It looks beautiful, but rather dull during the off skiing season. This is where the highest mountain of Europe - Mt. Blanc located. Unfortunately I didn't manage to take a shot of it. The weather was too misty.... read more

Travel period: 23 - 26 May 2008 Geneva - situated at Lake Geneva, this is a serene and rather quiet city compared to many other European cities. Having said that, it's the hub of many international organisations, incl. Red Cross International and United Nation. Only half an hour drive from France, this is a French speaking city - a second most important language after German in Switzerland. I took a half day walk around Lake Geneva and to enjoy the view of lovely wineyard surround the lake. I only stayed here for 3 days - with one day going to Charmonix, one of the most popular skii area in France. Of course, the skii season has just finished but I can still see the snow on top of the mountain. ... read more

Travel Period: 27 - 29 Apr 2008 Just 4 hours by bus from Kuala Lumpur, I crossed the border to Singapore ("an air-conditioned city state", according to Tiziano Terzani) to do shopping! Singapore has developed to be the main financial hub in South East Asia. It works very hard to position itself to be a modern and developed country in the past few decades. It has succeeded to achieve so under the determination (yet in a dictator way) of Lee Kwan Yew. ... read more

Travel Period : 21 - 23 Mar 2008 Cornwall - lies at the south west of England has conserved the oldest English culture - some of the earliest inhabitants were driven from other parts of England to Cornwall when the Roman came. Cornish language nearly dies, not many people using it. We went there to spend the Ester weekend. And we did couch surfing - Sandra, a german student has kindly offered her house to host 16 people! We were eating, cooking, drinking and having party at her house for 3 days. On second day we set off to Newquay - the main city in Cornwall to do free hugs - to celebrate the International Free Hug Day. ... read more

Travel Period: 11 - 16 Jan 2008 I made a terrible mistake - travel to a country that is close to the sea in the winter. It was cold, windy and wet. However it doesn't reduce my fondness towards this tiny flat country. Promise to come back again in the summer. ... read more
