We decided to go to a karaoke night in the Roebuck Hotel….turned out to be quite amusing. This random aboriginal dude kept hopping up and singing along to everyone else. Ron did the Commitments and Irene made us to backing vocals and dancing! [View Full Entry]

Joan and Ed

We went out for a “girl’s night out in Broome” , which involved HAIR STRAIGHTNERS! We started off in Oasis, had some Red Bull and vodka - Irene interviewed Kip for a nanny job…she passed with flying colours! Becci was Rudolph the Red Nosed girl for a while which was hilarious. Then we went onto Nippon where they didn’t let Dean in cause he had flip flops on, then let Irene in for free cause she kept arguing so much…eventually your man goes “Hey Irish, over here - quick”, so in she went! At the end of the night we managed [View Full Entry]

We got up early for Karijini the next day and it is so beautiful…it was just amazing to walk around in this beautiful area. This is when I can see why people are obsessed by nature. Karijini National Park is the second largest national park in WA. The park has these amazing gorges they are spectacular but can be extremely dangerous. Further downstream, the gorges widen and their sides change from sheer cliffs to steep slopes of loose rock. In Dales Gorge, a stream, pools, waterfalls, and ferns contrast with the red, terraced cliffs weathered by centuries of exposure. The Park [View Full Entry]

The first night we hit Broome we were told that the Roebuck Hotel was the place to go - ended up being more like a wedding or a lawn party than a happening night club but we all had a few drinks and made scary faces with some random strangers! [View Full Entry]

We fell out of bed this morning and on to the bus to our overnight camp site. Hung over to bits, a full day of driving , and then having to camp in a horrible campsite with not enough sheets or pillow cases but plenty of insects that kept falling on me. After making the girls dinner , we sat around the camp fire for a bit. That was just beautiful…communing with nature and all that . Then we retired to our glorious accommodation, Irene didn’t want a blank [View Full Entry]

My dive class went on a celebration dinner for passing the course and Irene and Annie went on a Scooter Safari for the day, Irene got a scooter and Annie went on the back of the instructor's . As Ruth, Mike and I are walking out of the caravan park towards the bottle shop we see this scooter turning in on the wrong side of the road. Mike straight away is like, oh that must be Irene. I of course tell him no, can't be. We get in front of the bottle shop and of course....it is! She is delighted with [View Full Entry]

We went on our final two dives today for our PADI, went the West Side of Exmouth where we also saw the whale sharks. Dropped down into the water and did our CESA, then headed down to do some skills at the bottom...we had literally just started and this huge Manta Ray swims by. Mantas are relaly friendly but you have to just sit still cause they will fly away if you try and swim after them. So we all knelt down in the sand and watched this manta with three fish on top of it, like bodyguards (!), swim around [View Full Entry]

Getting there

This was the first time we did our dive in the ocean, went really well. We saw loads of different fish...even a wobbygong shark, a while tipped reef shark, an octupus, a lionfish - which are really cool cause they have all these kinda feathers coming in and out of them. We also saw loads of turtles - and one was taking a bath! And on the second dive I literally dropped on a sea snake...and it spent the whole time winding itself in and around me...was so mad! And they can poison you if you annoy them....was completly surreal. The [View Full Entry]

Started our Open Water Course today with Exmouth Dive Centre. The first day didn't go too well as I absolutely paniced and couldn't pass my swim OR float test! However, I went out for a few beers that night with a few from our caravan park (that we now refer to as our home; as we have a little caravan just for the three of us), and I felt better about the prospect of passing....which I totally did with flying colours the next day. We also had to pass a medical, which was one of the funniest processes I have ever [View Full Entry]
