Yes I recently discovered Highlanding is maybe not in my blood...The genetics are just not there. My legs are too short!! Not adaptable for those steep climbs, and also if i ever tried to wear a kilt, it would drag on the floor and get all muddy. Despite my shortcomings, i still tackled being a highlander as best i could, luckily the tour i hopped on for 3 days had a bus, and the hiking of the terrain was a one afternoon occasion! 3 days touring the highlands, heading all the way up to the Isle of Skye and back again, never beeing bored for not having anything to see. I arrived in Edinburgh on a Sunday afternoon, with no more travel arrangements for afterwards. Some would call it being free and others would call it stupid! You decide. I'd been told before i got there i would like this city, and i have to say it's true. I haven’t yet met a person that doesn't like Edinburgh. As you drive into the city you can see the Castle towering over everything. It's sat up on an old volcano, and the molten lava that oozed out the side is now old town and the Royal mile, the other side is sheer cliff face like. Did i say yet its very hilly there! After spending 2 weeks in Cardiff with family, and waiting for my credit card to arrive in the post i finally booked a couple of flights to get out and about again. First stop Bristol for one night, not for any particular reason, just that my flight to Dublin left from there, so i thought i may as well stop for the night and have a bit of a nose around! Not much to report, I'm sure there's more to see, I just didn't! I had a wandre around the harbour area which is quite nice, and then up to the University and the Museum. Hong Kong to Helsinki, Helsinki to London! Dump my bags in the hostel and head out with my cousin Chris! Jet lag will not be an issue! My first taste of cold weather!! I was freezing, but soldiered on. We spent the whole of the day in London on the go, i think thats the only way you can do this city. It's on the go, and the underground tubes are really cool. A few people i have met don't like them, but thats just because they do get a little bit hot. You can get a day pass and zip all around the city easily and see a lot of the sights in Limited time! So i finally got on the plane and left! 8 hours later i arrived at Hong Kong Airport. Hopped straight onto a train, then onto the ferry over to Macau to meet up with my friend Samo. I spent 4 years at uni with sam, and not seen him for 6 months, so it was great to see him again. Macau is something to be seen, and i think arriving at night i got the best intro. It's a small island just west of Hong Kong, and hour ferry ride, and for many years was owned by the portugese, not the Chinese. So unlike in China gambling is legal there. It's known as the "las Vegas" of China, and is now not owned by portugese but the chinese, but gained its independence not so long ago. ... read more
