Spain and its Moorish influences have fascinated me for many years, and now we have the chance to find out what it is all about.
The Kapiti Wanderers this time are made up of five couples: Frank and Vicki Boffa, Sue and Peter Whiting, Rick and Pip Graham, John and Ali Tocker and Davie and I.
We are heading off, via Sydney and Dubai, to Madrid. Five days in Madrid will show us not only that lovely city, but we'll also head out to Toledo and Avilia. Then we fly to Casablanca and embark on an oldies' Insight coach tour of Morocco for a week. Davie and I will abandon that on the last day and catch an overnight train to Tangier where we plan to spend a lovely night in what looks like a simply glorious hotel in the kasbah, before catching the ferry and bussing/training up to Ronda in Andalusia from Algericas. We have a week at a vinca/villa just out of Ronda, which looks simply glorious. This will provide a great base for day trips out to the Alhambra in Granada, Cordoba any the Picasso museum in Malaga. This is all before heading to Seville for a few days and then the fast train to Barcelona and a hotel on the Rambla for four nights. We then fly to Dubai for four days of Arabian nights, souks and camels, then home for work on Monday 17 June.
