G’day all Currently I am doing this blog on the way to our last leg of our holiday the Cock of the North Tour We again apologise for our lack of communication this time around but we are having too much fun to do anything when the day ends....LOL Not really Internet connectivity has been dodgy so when we can't upload photos we don't bother Since our last blog we have visited Civi...Civ....ahhhh the port for Rome, Cagliari (Sardinia), Seville, Lisbon and Vigo. Please note that some of the photos might be out of order but we will try to get it right. (Julia: Actually I’ll have a go at putting them all in order before we publish them… lol) After we got back to England we took the train to London and stayed where they ... read more

Gday all Hello from Toulon, France and now from Livorno, Italy gateway to Pisa and Florence Well it has been a while since our last posting. You will also notice that there are no pictures with this post. At 75 cents a minute for internet connection it would cost a fortune to upload them. We will load them when we get back to England on the 18th. Now to the blog On the morning we picked up the boat I had to drop off our rental car and while doing this I met a couple that had just got off the boat and while chatting they said the first thing we will notice is the food. Well that is an understatement. Everywhere you go is either a bar or restaurant The Celebrity Eclipse is a magnificent ... read more

Gday all Well I know I promised we would be a bit more regular but hey shit happens...lol May 27 - Stratford-upon-Avon. The home of Will Shakespeare...We jumped on a hop on hop off tour to see the buildings associated with him. The main building we stopped at was Anne Hathaway's Cottage. What a great building and the lady who did the talk was very interesting. It wasn't known as this until the late 1800s when the owner needed to bring in extra cash and decided to cash in on Shakespeare's name. We then travelled to the Farm where Will's mother grew up. This is still a working farm with volunteers doing most of the work. May 28 - Worst decision we could of made. We decided to go down to a place near Land's End ... read more

Gday all Well the weather has beaten us on the boat. It was raining all morning and not expected to stop anytime soon so instead of being stuck on a cramped boat for 2 days in the rain we took the hard decision and handed the keys in early. May 24 - Today we started off very well, nice weather and clear skies. We went north on the canal to Tewitfield the end of the canal at this stage....the Government has only been talking about reopening the rest of the canal since 1968...can't rush these things. When we got to Tewitfield it looks like the diesel fairies had been around as there was a lot less diesel in the boat then when we started off. Apparently the mongrels like to come along and pinch the diesel ... read more

We are heading into Lancaster to pick up Deb so she can come on the narrowboat so I thought I'd do some blogging and get you all up to date. 17 May - We got up in the morning and had a lovely breakfast at Beamish Hall. Mark had the full English of course and I had a continental. We packed up and headed to the Beamish Bird of Prey park. It was fantasic. We were only in for a few minutes and we got to hold a little owl. There was all sort of raptors in there and we walked around and checked them all out. Then about 11am we sat in the lawn area for the show. It was great.. there was only 4 of us to see the show so he did it ... read more

Hiya everyone. I've got a few days to catch up with I guess. So here goes. 12 May - Today we headed to York for the day to see the National Railway Museum. It was really interesting with engines from the steam era up to diesels. We had a good wander round and lost Barbara a few times.. lol... The Flying Scotsman wasn't on display because it's being done up ready to get out onto the tracks again. There were a few royal carriages there including Queen Victoria's, Queen Elisabeth's and the one that Charlse and Diana used afer they got married. Queen Victoria's was amazing and still in original condition. It was a bit hard to get pictures of it because they didn't have very bright lights on inside it. The UV rays from the ... read more

Gday all Well the hotel is still having problems with their internet so this is a day late. Yesterday we picked up Jules' mum Barbara and Aunty Joyce and went for a drive. First stop was Withernsea where one of the attractions is the old pier. The pier started off at 1196 ft but with the rough seas it was a target for disabled boats in 1880 2 vessels hit the pier and and knocked off 200ft of it then after it was rebuilt using timber instead of steel and then storms washed away the repaired bit in 1882 not repaired then but still in use. In 1890 after another ship hit and knocked off half of what was remaining another ship then hit it in 1893 and all that was left was 50 ft after ... read more

Hiya all. Sorry we haven't been updating but the internet was down at the hotel and we couldn't log on. Plus it's been family visits and stuff, which is great for me but probably boring for everyone else! lol So.... what have we been up to. We had a lovely relaxing time in London. On Friday we headed to Watford to pick up the car. We have a Vauxhall Meriva. It's not a bad car though Mark tells me it's got no pickup.. lol.. I wouldn't know because I don't drive over here.. way too much traffic for me. Mark handles it fairly well, something to do with driving in Victoria I'd say. Well after picking up the car we headed off on the M25 making our way to see Leslie and Jo. We had a ... read more
