Jon and Natalie - Jon & Natalie Pike

Jon & Natalie Pike Follow the Wedding-a-thon with cousin Kimberley's Woollongong shin dig, the Dubbo Wedding of the Year (ours) and the Leggatt/Harrison beachside nuptuals.

Then join us on our honeymoon adventure. From the outback of Australia, to the windy peaks of Patagonia, to the vineyards of Chile to the Lakes of Titticaca and the ruins of the Incas. Finishing off with pina coladas in Cancun.

Watch as Natalie braves strong winds, long bus journeys, roasted guinea pigs and living out of a back pack. Watch as Jon braves Natalie.

Forget The Motorcycle Diaries, and read The Honeymoon Diaries - almost as short and much less cultural.

Forget TLC, we were ready for a bit of CLC after completing the Inca Trail. So that´s what we embarked on: C...usco L...ima C...ancun. CUSCO The day after we completed the Inca Trail I was supposed to go white water rafting at 8:30am. Yeah, like that was ever gonna happen. Instead we slept until late morning and went into the town for lunch. In the afternoon we had a massage with accompanying sound effects straight out of a horror film. Natalie was in the next booth to me and as soon as her masseuse started on her thighs and calves [View Full Entry]

Having whetted your collective appetites with Part 1, I better serve up a veritable feast of excitement with Part 2 of our Inca Adventures. So we left you at nightfall, Day 2. We woke up pretty chilly on Day 3 and were again served tea while still snug in our sleeping bags and breakfast soon after. Day 3 was supposed to be a breeze after the hardship of the day before. For us, it was more like a force 9 gale. I suppose that the steepness of the second day had eaten into our limbs during the night but the [View Full Entry]

The fact that this blog is being written is proof that we are both alive and well after four days on the Inca Trail. Machu Picchu: Been there, done that and Natalie has a rather fetching t-shirt with Llamas on it to either prove that the trip was completed or because we´d run out of clean clothes. So how did this tale of hardship, athleticism, facing-up-to-our-own-demons and 5-star camping actually unfold.... We´d been in Cusco a couple of days and Natalie had acclimatised well by visiting most of the 100 or so jewellry stores here in the city ensuring that [View Full Entry]

The Incas made the Chilpa tombs of a pile of rocks look pretty by adding the massive blocks to the outside. Sort of like Changing Rooms but without Handy Andy.
Amigos. It is time to tell you about our trip to the Floating Islands on Lake Titicaca (and the trip since La Paz). You'll be pleased to hear that we left La Paz and that Natalie is feeling much better after her run in with Bolivi-belly. We left La Paz on Sunday and took a three hour bus journey to Copacabana (which happens to be the hotest spot North of Havana, don't you know). No big nosed crooners here though...only a pretty cathedral and Lake Titicaca. We explored the town the first day and on the second took a ferry [View Full Entry]

Yes indeed, B is for Bolivia. And B is for many other things like B-log Readers. Well, B-log Readers I´d like to promise you another thrilling installment but the thrills will have to wait until next week. Instead, here is an update on what we´re up to with today´s special letter, the letter B. B is for Bolivia- Which is where we remain. In fact we are still in La Paz. B is for Bathroom - Which is where poor Natalie has been spending most of her time for the past 5 days with a tummy bug. She is now [View Full Entry]

Stomach Saviour

Hello Blog Fans ´Tis us again. Bet you thought we´d fallen off the edge of the world what with a lack of the usual twice weekly blog entries. Well, we ain´t and we´re alive and well in the comfort of the Presidential Hotel in La Paz...more about that later. Jon writing this...and have had enough of the third person narrative so back to "me and the missus" I´m afraid. Has been quite an adventure, so it has. More a sort of Lord of the Rings trilogy adventure than a episode of Friends - with some good stuff and some not [View Full Entry]

Almost finished with Chile after three and a half weeks here...which seems like only a few days (well apart from THAT boat trip). Since the last entry we have been engaging in very un-budget-backpacker activities including a wine tour and trip to the casino. Yes, we´ve been livin´the high life. This will be a short one as the space bar must have had a run in with a can of Fanta and isstickingsoallthewordsaretogether. Anyway, we leave for Bolivia tomorrow - flying from about 200m above sea level to 3,600 metres. So we expect some ill effects from the altitude for [View Full Entry]

Plenty to report in this edition of the Travel Blog after an action packed few days in Pucon, on the shores of the Lago Villarrica. You may recall that we made it to Pucon on Wednesday and were routinely kidnpapped by Claudio who owned the backpackers hostel around the corner from the bus station. Despite a bed that can only be described as undulating with a few rogue springs, we stayed at his great and welcoming hostel for the duration of our stay. The weather wasn´t great for the first day so we pottered around the town and took it [View Full Entry]

Well, what a little adventure we have had aboard the good ship Puerto Eden. As you may recall we were embarking onto our luxurious cruise ship on Thursday evening to set sail early on Friday morning. All went to plan for the first day or so. We had our own cabin much to the relief of Natalie and our own bathroom (well, cupboard with a hole in the floor and a loo). The boat, for us, consisted of our cabin, the deck and a canteen area. And that has been our home for the past five days. The journey should [View Full Entry]
