This weekend we went to Camp Lakeside at Benbow Lake for the church campout. It was the first time we got our own campsite and used our tent for the first time. It was a relaxing weekend--pretty much the same as it is every year. Sometimes it's just nice to get away from the city for a little while and be able to actually see the stars at night. ... read more

Our cruise ended today, and we immediately made our way back to the airport. We checked in our luggage and figured out that we had hours before our flight. We decided to take a taxi to International Drive in Orlando. It looked like an interesting place to go that wasn't too far from the airport. We didn't really do anything there. We just walked around and looked at the sights. There were a lot of interesting buildings along that street. We saw the Ripley's Believe it or Not! It was more expensive than we wanted to spend, so we decided not to go inside. Another interesting building was WonderWorks. It was pretty cool to see an upside-down building. Even the McDonald's there was cool. Inside, it looked like a nice restaurant. There were flat screen TVs ... read more

Central America Caribbean November 5th 2005

The past 2 days have been at sea. We haven't done too much. We watched a soccer game between the crew and the guests. The crew were obviously going to win. They had people from countries who actually play soccer on a regular basis, and the guests mainly had Americans who knew how to play the game, but were not all that great. It was pretty fun to watch. We also tried our luck at the slot machines in the casino, but ended up losing all the money that we started playing with. Thankfully, we know we have no luck, so we only ended up wasting about $20.... read more

Cruise Ship at Sea

St. Maarten is an island that is owned by the French and by the Dutch. St. Maarten is the Dutch side, and St. Martin is the French side. Our ship docked on the Dutch side, but we wanted to see both sides of the island. We decided to go on a bus tour that would take us all around the island. Our first stop on the tour was Orient Beach, which is a nude beach because it is on the French side. Thankfully, we didn't see any nude people when we were there. Another stop on our tour was at a shopping area on the French side. We had to be back at the bus at a certain time to leave and continue on our tour. We were back in time, but one couple on our ... read more

Today we arrived in St. Thomas. It was so beautiful there. We took a skyride to Paradise Point, which is 700 feet above sea level. There was a great view of the harbor from up there. After we rode back down, we decided to head out to the beach. We heard that the beach at Magens Bay was a really beautiful beach, so we took a cab there. The cab driver was not a very good driver. He was eating the same time he was driving. We thought for sure he was going to crash the car. The beach was really beautiful, and it wasn't crowded, which was nice. We decided to leave as the sun was starting to set because the bugs were starting to come out. We found a little shuttle bus that would ... read more

Port Canaveral-Bahamas When we woke up in the morning, our ship had already pulled into the port in Nassau, Bahamas. We had an amazing view from our balcony. It was a little cloudy, but it was nice becuase then it wasn't so hot. It was the perfect temperature. We only had a half day at this port, so we set out right after breakfast. We decided not to do any shore excursions, and we were just going to explore the island. All the buildings are so colorful here. The marketplace is several different bright colors, and the government building is pink! It's amazing how many pink buildings there are here. We wanted to go up to Fort Fincastle so we can see a better view of the island. We had to walk through a man-made canyon ... read more

Orlando-Port Canaveral We arrived in Orlando in the morning. At the airport, we found a taxi van to take us to Port Canaveral. We were originally going to walk around Cape Canaveral, since it was too early to board the ship, but since we were so tired, we decided to just go straight to the port. We were so glad that we did, becuase we ended up being able to board almost immediately, and since it was so early, there were very few people on the ship. We were able to get familiar with the ship without having hoards of people around, and we took some cool pictures of the ship without having a bunch of people in our shot. One feature we found right away, is that the day of the week is listed on ... read more

Seattle-Orlando FlightWe just got married today, and we left right away to go on our honeymoon. For our honeymoon, we decided to go on a Caribbean cruise. We are doing the Eastern Caribbean and our ports are the Bahamas, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten. After planning a wedding, we are looking forward to not having to think about anything on our trip. We pretty much left straight from the reception to the airport. We spent our first night married 30,000 feet in the air on a red eye flight to Orlando. We were not able to get any sleep, even though we tried. There was absolutely no leg room in our seats on the plane, and the seats were so small. It was definitely not conducive to sleeping.... read more
