Port Canaveral-Bahamas When we woke up in the morning, our ship had already pulled into the port in Nassau, Bahamas. We had an amazing view from our balcony. It was a little cloudy, but it was nice becuase then it wasn't so hot. It was the perfect temperature. We only had a half day at this port, so we set out right after breakfast. We decided not to do any shore excursions, and we were just going to explore the island.

All the buildings are so colorful here. The marketplace is several different bright colors, and the government building is pink! It's amazing how many pink buildings there are here.

We wanted to go up to Fort Fincastle so we can see a better view of the island. We had to walk through a man-made canyon and up some stairs to get there. As we were walking through there, we heard a tour guide say that the canyon was carved out by slaves. The staircase is named after the Queen because she abolished slavery. Fort Fincastle was built 1795 by Lord Dunmore to defend the city, but it never saw much action. The cannons meant for defending the fort are

After that we just decided to walk around a little bit and do some souvenir shopping. We found a beach near the port that didn't have many people, and we had a quick dip in the ocean. We then went back to the ship to get ready for the formal dinner we had that night.
