| 8th June 2006 Gica | - From: Brasov Brann Castle (where Dracula apparently lived)..NO!..just Vlad Tepes came one in a while. Please stop thinking about Romania as the place of Dracula, only because Bram Stoker was a missinformed idiot.Anyhow Brasov is a very nice and confortable place to stay, as good or bad, clean or filthy places are all over the world in all cities.Don't tell me that your home town is clean as a facmaceutical resort.Beside that, now we have a virtual tour of our town, that we are proud of it.Visit http://www.vrbrasov.ro , and you'll get a better idea.Don't disregard the beauty of Brasov, only because you meet a few people that didn't fit your request. best regards! |

| 21st April 2006 anonymous | Spelling!!! - From: Eger Hi Joel! Thanks for copying us in on your travel blog, which we are following with great interest. We enjoy the descriptions of your trips, including the trials and tribulations, but feel you need to edit the spelling more carefully - e.g. you go "wondering" when you mean "wandering" and the tramp at Szolnock station "wreaked"... when you actually meant "reeked", "excersize" instead of "exercise" . "greatful" instead of "grateful" - to name a few...... If you ever want to publish the entire text I'll be happy to proof-read and edit for you! By the way - where did you spend the Seder night? Shalom and all the best, Pamela |

| 8th April 2006 Claudia and Bill | Hi Joel from Dayton - From: Cologne We are loving reading about your travels! Sounds like you are having a great trip so far!!!! Good Luck! Claudia and Bill |
| 8th April 2006 Gfloble | Gramps here - From: Cologne Glad to hear that you are finding your way about. Every country being different makes life that much more interesting. When I as in Koeln about 1949, the town was badly damaged by bombing, except the cathedral, which stood alone in the centre. We had a snowstorm today, but it was all gone after an hour. Lots of love GE & GG |
| 2nd April 2006 Auntie Tina | Bon Voyage! - From: The Journey - An Introduction Look after yourself at all times and have fun! Lots of love from auntie Tina and Dalia (who says bu, bu, bu....) |
| 1st April 2006 Joel's Dad | You always had to do things differently! - From: The Journey - An Introduction Dear Joel Four hours ago we put you and Adam on the ferry to Amsterdam where your journey - hitch hiking to Shanghai will commence. Firstly, let me say what a great pleasure it has been to have you at home this past year. We haven't spent much time together since you started boarding school at 13 and then university. We have appreciated your wonderful humour (except when grumpy - fortunately very occasionally!!), your helpfulness and kindness (especially towards your grandparents) and yes, even your 'fish is fun nights' though I still hate fish! Disappointing that you didn't have time to fully digest the Usborne First 1000 Russian Words or take the horse riding lessons you planned - we hope this doesn't leave you too exposed when riding with the Siberian tribesmen. During the year we have also admired how hard you have worked at holding down two jobs and earning your own cash for this extraordinary trip. We are missing you already and of course above all hope and pray that you and Adam both return home safely - of course, we also hope that you have the most amazing and fulfilling adventure. Please don't underistimate the differences in culture and even lawlessness of some of the countries you are passing through. I'm not even sure if the international hitch hiking thumbs up sign might mean something rude and insulting in Mongolia? Anyhow, take great care, be respectful of others - and yes, forget your Borat immitations when you get to Kazakhstan! Above all - be happy, have fun and come home safely. With much love, Mum & Dad |
