What a great idea...
everyone dressed in costumes. It certainly adds to a festive ambiance rathen than a drunken hoard.

Is there any truth to the suspicion that the cut underneath Forbes' eye resulted from you coercing him to pose for this photograph?

Cool
Our son and son in law played rugby in college in the US. Thanks for the great blogging about the sport. Personally I love the "get ups!"

Nice talking to you both anyway - and with my sister and her family over there now I'm sure I'll be back this year at some stage. Hope you had a great New Year :-)

Disappointing photos???!
Jo, those photos are great to our eyes...considering you didn't have a tripod they turned out amazing! It looks like a spectacular display, definitely a bucket list event! We are sure you will more than make up for your quieter year of travelling with your upcoming trip. Where are you going? A belated happy new year!

Thanks Donna and Neil :-) The upcoming trip will only be about 10 days - I'm heading up to KL for the TB 10th anniversary meetup. Looking forward to meeting more TBers - and exploring a new country!

The Best Place in the World To Experience New Year's Eve
Great photos and videos - they do convey what an amazing spectacle results from six million dollars worth of fireworks! I saw both 1999/2000 and 2000/2001 displays and they were both very memorable evenings.

Congratulations!
A fantastic result for the All Blacks, they were easily the best team of the tournament. The French should also be commended for the way they played, as they (along with the All Blacks of course) gave a game to the tournament that was worthy of a final.

Brings back memories!
Although I'll have to offer an outsiders view on the build up and aftermath if I ever get round to it circa 2013!

It's all about the fans
Anyone who has been to a major international sporting tournament will know that sport is secondary in importance when compared to the people that you meet from around the world. Giant prawns, Argentinian sheep, painted faces and coloured hair - this tournament had it all!

What a fantastic experience!
I've been waiting on this blog for a while, and it was well worth the wait! A wonderful story coupled with equally good videos and photos. You will always look back on these days with fondness, and I am so pleased that you were able to participate in the tournament in a manner granted to a lucky few.
