Wonderful! Joan, I love hearing all about your travels, I am envious! I'm looking forward to the next blog! Your pictures are wonderful and really add to the text!

WOW!!! Hi you guys!!! What a wonderful spot you have chosen! Are you coming back to Pittsburgh??? It would be hard! We miss you! Let us know how the ping-pong tournament comes out. Play hard!!! You're so generous to have people visiting all the time! You love your family and friends and that's a good thing!!
We walked from 5th and Shady to CMU campus yesterday - Luc was or guide - to see the large mural of early Pittsburgh. It's floor to ceiling around a large lobby in the Student Activity Center. Lunch then back to the Art Center.
Marilyn Ham has had two bouts with pneumonia late Feb/March. Took some soup and bread yesterday after walking. She called and is doing better - on a new antibiotic which she thinks is working better.
Blanch Asherman had a heart attack while skiing at Seven Springs and is doing well after a stent placement. Honestly, no keeping those two off the slopes!! Poor Jack is still suffering from his crash in Utah last year!!
I'm going to Portland to hang out with Georgia for five days while her parents go to Cancun for a vacation. Will be gone from April 12 - 25th.
Thought about an elderhostel hiking at Mt. Hood but really don't want to be away from home that long. Kittty-cat, early gardening chores, etc.
Nuff!! Don't have to tell you two to have fun - that's already happening and am so happy for both of you!!
Love, Connie
Greetings! Jim and Joan, Great to hear from you. Sounds as though you are having a great time. Wonderful pictures---thanks. Good luck with the bike competition. The Green Valley Recreation Center is "just your cup-of-tea." We too visited Canyon De Chelley. Our wedding is planned in Cape Cod in June then on to the Maritime Provinces. Our new RV is wonderful and everything works! Please keep September 23, Sat. available, we plan a PITTSBURGH Wedding Celebration in North Park . Meanwhile, Enjoy! Hope to see you soon. Maureen
Yes, Bruce it was! The paths we found were paved and marked with a line down the middle. There seem to be many bicyclists in Canada. They often ride bikes of many varieties, including older drop handlebar models of 10 speeds mostly in good condition.
Bike Highway? Was that a 2-lane bike path I saw in one of the photos? -- complete with centerline, presumably dashed when you are allowed to pass slow-moving traffic.
WOW!! This might be my second comment - I think I moused to soon!! Anyway, that's a gorgeous spot! My question - why did you come back to Pittsburgh??? Glad you did, anyway!!
Welcome Back Hope you didn't forget your Ramblers' trip, Joan! You missed an awful lot of the West, so you will need to do that again a few more times. - Bruce Sundquist
hello Dear Jim and Joan, I found your blog through a search on google. I am a member of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra. Thank you for coming to our concert. I've lived in Tucson my entire life - except for going to school at Eastman School of Music and the New England Conservatory - and it was great to see Tucson through someone else's eyes. Thanks!
Happy Traveling! - pearl
Los Alamos Flew into Los Alamos from Albuequerque once on a little puddle-jumper plane (job interview back in 1960). Every day is casual Friday for lab workers. Some lab people live in adobe houses. They asked me if I would mind working on nuclear weapons... - Bruce Sundquist
Cool Pics Interesting pictures on Kits Peak. Katherine I haven't seen you in many years. Someday we will again. I am honored you choose Katherine for a name - that you think so highly of my mom and our Great Aunt. I have done a bit of genealogy work and have found C(K)atherines throughout the generations of all sides of my family. The tradition continues... - Mark Heike
The Hill Country Sounds like you had a Great time. The Hill Country (the area West of I-35, between the coastal Plains and Edwards Plateau), is my favorite place in the World. Come back whenever you can. - Bob Cozby
Country and Western ?????????? FYI
Stevie Ray Vaughan was one of the greatest blues guitarist to ever live. Please do not insult him or his fans by labelling him as country and western. - SRV Fan
Arizona Hi Jim and Joan,
I received a phone call yesterday from one of my sisters who lives in Rio Verde (north of Phoenix). She said they have had a lot of rain there. As a result the desert is spectacular -- full of flowers. So you should really enjoy Arizona. Send back some photos. - Bruce Sundquist

Your Abode I can tell you are in the south. The roof extends out well beyone the exterior walls in order to protect them from the scorching sun. Stay cool! - Bruce Sundquist

I hope to spend some time with Billie who will be there until early March. I'll be back the first week in April long before you two. - Marilyn Ham

Happy arrivals! Sounds like you've had an adventure already - three days on interstates! I've heard that Austin is a very cool town; I'll be curious to see what you think of it. I heard that a certain part of San Antonio that has canals has been restored to 'resemble' Amsterdam. I'll look forward to your updates! Love, Katherine - Katherine
We are two Pittsburgher's now staying in Green Valley , Arizona for Feb., March, and April, 2006. In winter,2005 we traveled to several southwestern states, then in the summer,we went to Vermont and Montreal, Canada. This year,2006 we have rented a condo in Green Valley, Arizona and plan to explore the history, art, culture, and natural beauty in a relaxed way, often on a bicycle. If you have an interest in knowing what life is like in southern Arizona, tune in. We invite friends and family to follow along.
