Sunday-San Antonio
We drove down Rt.10 and then 37 to the Alamo and Riverwalk along the San Antonio River. The Alamo was just like the pictures in the history books, but there was a whole area devoted to it's history. We have all heard about the Riverwalk, and it is very impressive, with it's elegant hotels, large old trees, and stone walls and bridges everywhere. We had dinner at Casa Rosa along the river. Jim watched the Super Bowl for awhile while I roamed the riverwalk watching the lights come on. Then home to our cabin.

Monday-New Braunsfels and Gruene(Green)
The Guadalupe River flows through these two towns. In the summer people come from all over Texas to go tubing down the river. The crowds are enormous. We appreciated being able to roam these two towns in good weather with a reasonable number of people. Gruene was a dead "ghost town" bought by 2 individuals who kept it's old buildings in tact and turned it into one of Texas'most interesting towns. We ate at the Gristmill, overlooking the Guadalupe River in the ruins of a 100 year old cotton gin.
