Hi everyone! Sorry it's been a while, this term's just gone so fast I can't believe i'm on holiday again in 2 days! Well as you all know dad came out to visit which was brilliant, i'm sure you all heard about the slight failiure of our trip to the mysterious and utterly hidden 'walled village'. For those of you who haven't heard, this basically involved a 2 hour journey to go and walk around a dual carrigeway for a few hours, passing by a scrapyard and a sewage works, before eventually giving up and going home! Luckily we saw the funny side (after a bit of a strop from me when following some cyclists under dad's assumptions that 'they must be going somewhere' led to yet another dead end) it's certainly a day we wont ... read more

In a moment of madness last weekend I decided to sign up for the sponsored Amnesty International bike ride from London to Brighton in Spetember. I realise that something this active is incredibly out of character (in fact the response i've got from EVERYONE i've told has been 'oh really...so how drunk were you?' The answer to that question is not at all thankyou very much.) Anyway, my friend Naz organised an Amnesty write for rights event before christmas, in which we all got together to write letters to governments regarding cases of human rights abuses and messages of support to people currently imprisoned for political 'crimes'. I believe this is an incredibly worthy cause, and especially important at the moment. Also, a bike ride in September will stop me from coming home and sitting on ... read more

Hi everyone! Sorry it's been so long, it's been a crazy month. So as you probably know, Hannah ended up coming out early and ended up coming to the Philipines with us which was amazing! It was one of the best holidays i've ever had, I didn't realise how stressed i'd been until I was sat in the hammock on our terrace with a San Miguel. I love Hong Kong, but it's a stressful place to live, always busy, always on the go, so it was lovely just to stop for a while. Before I got to the hammock though there was a night stop over in Manila which was not the nicest city! We spent an hour going through it on the bus before we got to our hotel and decided that was enough so ... read more

Hi everyone, Sorry it’s been a while, but to be fair I have seen you all inbetween! I was very sad to leave England, but getting back to Hong Kong also felt like coming home in a way so that was nice. It’s going to go so quickly now so I just want to make the most of everything! I have a very exciting few weeks coming up because Hannah is coming out early so she’s arriving tomorrow and then coming to the Philippines now! Last week we had the P6 day camp which went really well although it was very tiring! Also Rob (i.e Mr Clay) made me sing the camp song over the microphone to a bus full of 11 year old while he laughed a lot, as did the students. I couldn't even ... read more

So in 3 weeks time it will be Christmas day, i'll be waking up in my own bed, opening presents with mum, dad and the grandparents, and then spending the day in Thirsk with the nutters. I'll have friends spending their day on beaches in Bali, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam, but honestly - I wouldn't want to be anywhere but Thirsk (now there's something I never thought i'd say!) It's been a great few weeks since my last entry, the highlights being a party on a tram and a trip to Disneyland! The tram party was for our friend Will's birthday, as was the trip to Disneyland (not that we needed an excuse!) Basically we just hired out 2 trams for 2 hours and made our way round Hong Kong island getting through the drinks we ... read more

Hi everyone, sorry it’s been so long. School’s been ridiculously busy the past few weeks, not been getting home until after 7 and then I’ve only got the energy to shower and sleep! So dad’s visit was obviously amazing, we had a great time, he loved it and it was fantastic to see him! He wasn’t impressed with me on Saturday morning after his night out in soho though, apparently shaking him and laughing while he turned green on the MTR wasn’t very nice. ‘Stop it Jessica I’m serious I’ll be sick. Why did you keep me out until that ridiculous hour?!’ were his exact words I think. Seems like ages ago now, can’t believe it’s only just over 5 weeks until I’m home for Christmas, I honestly can’t wait. I love it here but I ... read more

Hello everyone! I'm afraid this will be a poor blog in comparison with Jess's entertaining entries! As you may have already heard, we are having a brilliant time. Hong Kong definitely lives up to the hype - it is an amazing city and its been full on since I arrived. I've added a few photos so you can see some of what we've been up to. We went over to Macau today which is a 1 hour trip on the jetfoil. Fortunately, the ferry is very comfortable and more like being on a plane than a boat. Fortunate because Jess forced me to go out in Soho last night, the haunt of wealthy expat bankers (well it rhymes with bankers), and full of bars. I staggered back to the hotel about 2 am, which wasn't the ... read more

Hi everyone! Sorry it’s been so long since my last update, it’s been a busy few weeks! The past two weekend have been good, the weekend before last we went to Lamma Island on the Sunday which was gorgeous. It’s only a half an hour ferry ride away from Hong Kong but it feels like a different country. No skyscrapers, just two small fishing villages, an hours walk away from each other with a beach in the middle. We got the ferry to the first village, and naturally my instinct was to immediately hunt out some food! We found a gorgeous place called the bookworm cafe, where they have shelves with loads of books you can just take off the shelf while you eat, so it has a lovely relaxed atmosphere. I had an amazing feta ... read more
