Our first night in Chang Mai and we arrived at BMP Residents, which was also booked in Bangkok. It was nice enough. Just average. Had a pool, but you wouldnt get excited for the pool it wasnt outstanding. I spent the day led by the pool while Jimbo went exploring with some guys we met while checking into the accomodation, Mo and George (African and Italian). I almost got knocked out by an umbrella pole but had a nice day sunbathing on my own. In the evening we went for dinner at a place called The Riverside (and yes I did have the Riverside song stuck in my head while we were there) . It was delicious. Our group grew: Mo, George, Morgan (French) Alex (French-Candian) and Tom (fellow English). Everyone was really nice and chatty. ... read more

So a boat to Krabie, lost count of how many buses to including a sleeper bus (that is such a false name, you dont sleep on a sleeper bus). But after smashing my head on a tv it was probably the worst journey ever. I hated every second. Eventually arrived in Bangkok at a stupid hour so nothing was open. Discovered my bag was ripped, so I was in a vile mood and in the place I hated most since we started our travels (apart from our stop in India). But we managed to book our night train for that evening to Chang Mai, and book our elephant stay for 3 dyas and 2 nights. Exciting! So we had a day to kill in Bangkok, when there was literally hardly anything open as it was about ... read more

So after another incredibly disorganised Thai trip, involving about 3 buses and 2 boats, we eventually made it to the Phi Phi islands. When uyou are on the boat approaching it, it looks unbelievable, clear blue water, whit esands, csurrounding cliffs, its amazing. The place that Stacey and Darryl recommneded we stay in was fully booked so we couldnt stay there, but we spoke to a guy in a travel agent place who sorted us out with Sunset View Bungalows where strangely enough Duncan and Amir are staying (the guys we met in Phanang). The bungalows are so cool, they are made entirely out of bamboo and about 20 seconds walk from the sea. The bathroom has massive rocks in the middle of it which are really cool. We went out to dinner at the Reggae ... read more

Only came back to Samui really to spend some quality time with Stacey and Darryl before they went back home. Stacey and I woke up rather early to start on the tan challenge. It was absolutely boiling, as soon as you put on sun cream it was sweated off. We did create our own little resort in Nolans garden though including pool (paddling pool from his daughters) and beach area (bit of sand in the corner of the garden) and waiters (Jimbo and Darryl) who bought us drinks and even opened them for us! In the evening we went back to the Fishermans Walking Market which was amazing. We had mojitos and street food planned which did occur but for Stacey and I it was limited. We both werent really in the mood for drinking so ... read more

After spending far too much time in Tonsala (Phanang) waiting for our boat we eventually made it to Koh Tao and went to our resort - Asia Divers Resort. Compared to the dive that we stayed in previously this was like a haven. It was unbelievable! Massive room, fan on the ceiling, soft bed, balcony, swimming pool. It was amazing and we could not have been happier with our bargain find. We decided to have a drink in the outside bar where we met Robin who was doing his DMT (dive master training). We ended up chatting with him for ages and in exchange he was giving us enormous drink measures. After a little while we met another fellow English man, Sam from London. He looked a little like Carl Pilkington and the more we got ... read more

So I havent wrote on this in what appears to be for ever so thought I would do a massive update... On the 6th March Jimbo and I headed to Phangan ready for the full moon party. We arrived at the port in Had Rin and what a dive that is there. It was like a cheap tourist area full of tat that even I wouldnt want. It stank and although our plan was to have a look around and chill out for a bit we ended up getting out of there asap which led to issues. When we went to get into a taxi it was already full but the driver assured us there would be space while taking our bags off our back. This resulted in me sitting on a footstool faceing the wrong ... read more

So the past couple of days it has rained a little which means the tanning mission has to be put on hold. But there has been multiple games of cards. Still in Samui and had a fun packed day a few days ago. We rented a car and went to a waterfall where we could swim in the small drop pool at the bottom. Absolutely beautiful, right next to the forest. We then went to a place where there was two baby elephants one a few months old and the other only a couple of weeks. They were the sweetest things I have ever seen up close. They kept sucking their trunks like a human baby would their thumb. The smell was hideous though. Worse than when farmers spray fields. I would even suggest it was ... read more

March 1st 2012

Hello friends, We made it to Ko Samui after a very long time of travelling and i genuinely never thought I would make it. But it is well worth it! The boat ride was amazing and views looked unbelievable. Just looked like something out of a magazine! We have now made new friends. So I dont have to solely put up with Jimbo anymore. New friends are from Bournemouth Stacey and Darryl. They have been really helpful and are willing to show us round the island tomorrow. Been just chilling today on the little grass area i front of our room. I am severely burnt and been bitten far too many times for my liking but ill get over it. Tomorrow we are going travelling round the island after we hired a car. Go to see ... read more

We have now survived for 3 days in Thailand and it has been nothing but travelling and waiting so far. The plane journey was as standard as they get, horrid plane food, sweaty elderly men and random guys thinking its ok to hack up large amounts of phelgm behind me! Luckily Jimbo was there as I would still be waiting for my baggage in India - who knew that when you are ona transfer flight they move your bags for you?!! After checking into a rather suspect hotel we spent a rather comfortable night only to continue on our travels down south. This included a taxi, mini bus, another bus, another bus and another taxi to be able to reach the southern islands. Now just waiting on a yet another bus and then a ferry to ... read more
