Hey all! I started this blog so friends and family can join me along my trip. I thought it would be easier than a mass e-mail everyday (for those not on Facebook). Instead, everyone can just check on me here!

My trip begins when I depart NY's JFK at 5:20 PM on Monday, February 6th and arrive in Rome at 11:20 AM on Tuesday, February 7th. From here, I will eventually proceed to Naples, Sorrento, Geneva, Zermatt, Paris, Bordeaux, Madrid, Lisbon, and then Barcelona. I will end my trip in Barcelona and fly home on Monday, March 12th, arriving in NY early in the evening after 5 weeks of travel.

Annnnd Im BACK. It is very difficult to update my blog from my phone so I waited for computer access. So, lets see... Paris was wonderful. Alexa is a super mom and Avital is beautiful. We went running almost every day and passed awesome sites and then drank wine and ate cheese and prancedParis as we caught up on life. I then went to Bordeaux where I enjoyed a solo hotel room and some serious Jax time. Bordeaux is BEAUTIFUL but I recommend one know French. Or at least some... I then left Bordeaux to meet Aunt Jeri in Madrid, one of my highlights of the trip, and my transfer train was cancelled in Poitier AKA nowhere France. Thanks to the help of a nice spanish man who spoke french and english, I was informed I ... read more

First thing, for those who have not realized this yet... When I post pictures from my phone, they show up in the previous entry. So always check a previous entry if I have not written anything, there are probably pictures. This will not be a long entry because the keyboard is different and it is driving me crazy. The Y and Zs are in different places. You do not know how much you use those letters until they are not where they are supposed to be. Anzwho, I am off to Paris tomorrow morning to be with Alexa!!!!! xo Will write more on a normal keyboard at some point. When there hasnt been jameson throughout the evening.... read more

Things I learned in Geneva- In Switzerland, very male citizen must serve in the Military until they are 45. In Geneva, EVERY building must be constructed with a bomb shelter in the basement. Denis Leary is right, children are in fact drunken midgets (that never get hungover). Off to test the new knee on the Swiss Alps! Zermatt bound!... read more

WOW. Four days without internet... Interesting. So, I came clsoe to retiring in Sorrento. This was my Sorrento trip: Arrive Sorrento after double kisses all around, there was cheese, salami, pizza and beer. Then espresso and dolci and then all different fruits grown by the Staiano family with homemade limoncello. The next morning, I wake up to a beautiful view of Mt. Vesuvius out my window and was greeted with espresso and biscotti and then met the newest family member, Ricardo. Went home for lunch- left over pizza, bread, cheese, salami with wine followed by penne arrabiata which was followed by something similar to chicken francese with a salad side. Espresso, sweets, fruit. Watched "world invasion" (?) in Italian, dozed off, read my book, went for a run, showered, then dinner. Dinner- Prosciutto and mozarella then ... read more

I woke up to go for my final jog to the Spanish Steps this morning but Romes inability to manage the snow and ice accumulation made it near impossible for me to do so, especially ME, without injury. Instead, I am jumping in the shower, grabbing a cafe latte and heading down to Naples to see Courtney a little bit earlier! Very excited to see her and Andy, I think the last time I did was in Jacksonville. I hope they're internet and or computer is more efficient than here at the Hostel! Then I can post some more pics and actually respond to emails.... read more

It has started to snow in Rome. The city does not handle this weather well from what I hear. Last week 5 inches shut the bus system down for days. My last day in Rome today so I am just hanging low. I have revisited everything and done everything I wanted. I met a really cool South African couple last night who I ended up having dinner with (after confirming they werent swingers since, unfortunately, Ive had this problem in the past). Anywho, they were fun. After dinner I brought them to the little pub I used to hang out in and watch baseball and it was PACKED with Americans and screechy girls (for my UES people- I felt like Salooners had found me in Rome). I guess word got out about the place, quite disappointing. ... read more

I just arrived to Piazza Ottavilla. Well, first I ate an amazing slice from the pizza place that is still here and THEN settled in with an espresso. I am doing so at the internet cafe where I spent every morning 6 years ago e-mailing home! I was pleased to see it is the same friendly owners, I am not sure if they remember me. I definitely forgot how insane the walk up to here is!Everything seems the same , although I think it is a bit more run down unless I just never realized it when I was here. Some things have closed, including that good pizza place near JCU. They have very much Americanized that part of Trastevere. Including opening a "T-Bone Steakhouse" around the corner from the school entrance. My favorite restaurant, here ... read more
