I am a 35 year old native of the South of France. Hence my entries in two languages, French and English. I have lived in San Francisco for the last 13 years and it's time to move on and fall in love with a new place in this world. I am heading to Southern Africa on October 15th. I have a one way ticket to Cape Town, my mind filled with vivid images of Africa and I can't wait to compare these images to the real deal!
Here is my itinerary: http://www.travelblog.org/gmaps/map_26v.html

Plse scroll down for English version Bonjour a tous!

The adventure continues and Africa has definitely gotten me hooked and wanting more. Just flew in last night from Namibia, I am back in Johannesburg at my favorite hotel for a couple days of rest and prep before flying to Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) tomorrow afternoon. My brother Laurent will be back in LA by Wednesday and I know he too will miss the amazing sights and sense of freedom he discovered in Namibia. I miss him already, we laughed and goofed a lot as you can see on the pictiures! (make sure you scroll down to see all the pics - there are about 40+

I have spent the last 5 days on this amazing beach, called Nungwi, about an hour drive north of Stonetown in Zanzibar. I am typing this entry from Namibia. Just got here yesterday and I am already terribly missing Zanzibar and my perfect beach. You all know I am a beach girl (my swimsuit collection is the first clue) and I have been fortunate to lay my butt on many great beaches around the world; and I must say that I have found in Zanzibar the best sand - ever. So white, so fine, just like powdered sugar. Incredible. I completely fell in love with Zanzibar, the vibe, the beach, the colors,

Well, here I am. Finally. Great things do come to those who wait. I know it sounds so unlike me to say that! My flight from Johannesburg to Zanzibar was direct and under 4 hours and it was impossible not to smile as we approached from the air, looking down on sparkling turquoise water darkened only by patch reefs. Then you step off the plane and Zanzibar’s warmth and humidity reminds you how closer you are to the equator. My first impression of Zanzibar is fantastic. It's as exotic and cool as I had hoped. The place is not overhyped at all. It's a must-see.

The safari ended in Lusaka last Wednesday and while everyone flew back to Europe I flew back to Johannesburg for a few days of rest before heading out to Zanzibar - which is where I am updating my blog. Yes Zanzibar is as amazing as I had fantasized, but you'll have to wait until the next blog to hear more and see pictures. As you can see on the pictures I took a micro light flight above Victoria Falls on our last day in Livingstone, it was very exhilarating and I felt incredibly light and vulnerable - but in a good way. It was at 7 in the morning, the light was beautiful, no wind and

So let's recap: South Africa, Mozambique, Swaziland and back to South Africa last week. Leaving Joburg and the comfort of my posh hotel was a bit hard I must admit, but another adventure was waiting for me: the untamed river safari in Zambia and Botswana. I flew into Lusaka (Zambia) last Wednesday and met my new group the next day. Total we are 12 people, about half from Germany and half from the UK - our guides are from South Africa and Zimbabwe, Shyrod and Sifiso, great guys, very laid back and a great sense of humor - which has come in handy considering our truck broke down two days ago

... read moreHi Everyone, Here they are, a few pics of the widlife in Africa. It was tough picking only a few, as you can imagine I have a ton of them, when you are 10 feet away from an elephant or a rhino, one suddenly turns into a Japanese tourist and can't stop firing the camera! The game drives were incredible, whether in the morning (wake up call at 3:30 am!) afternoon (searing heat) or evening (the perfect golden light - a photographer's paradise). A few of us, especially Franz and Stefan were really good at spotting wildlife, which can be tough with the tall grass and dust. We saw 3 lions but they were a bit far and I was not able to snatch a picture. I am sure I will get more shots in Botswana!
