I grew up reading books, looking at maps, studying history, and day-dreaming about the day I could leave Northwestern Kansas behind and travel. So, for my last semester of university I went to Utrecht, the Netherlands, with the purpose of studying and then traveling for the summer before heading to New York State to work. That six month venture morphed into two and a half years and went from Europe to Egypt to Turkey to India back to Europe back to Turkey back to India on to Southeast Asia back to India back to Turkey back to Europe before finally coming to an end on May 1, 2006.
WOE IS ME! I am now slaving away in Houston, Texas, saving money for the next adventure and wishing I was somewhere else. The absolute latest departure date will be April 20th, 2007. The earliest departure date will be yesterday. It really all depends on how much money I have, where i want to go, and how long I can hold on to my sanity in this country(not doing so well, in case you are wondering). Anyway, to pass the time until I can get out I will reminisce about the days of yore by entertaining you with my past travel experiences. Enjoy.
There is a sea of black streched out beneath me. It is 2:30 in the morning, I am flying at about 500 miles an hour, and all I see is black, with one exception. There is a giant spotlight on the water. Why? Why am I seeing a giant spotlight in the middle of the Meditterenean? Where is it coming from? Our plane, some other plane, outerspace? Why is it that I awake to the sight of a giant spotlight on the sea? Then I look up and notice that there is a full moon tonight and that it is about as bright and clear as I have ever seen it. I look down at the spotlight; I look up at the moon; CLICK! I get it now; the grogginess from napping must have slowed down

But that is the beautiful of a rollcoaster. You don't know when you will reach the top, you don't know what is on the other side, and you don't know which way it will pull you. I was about to find out. The crew woke up Sunday and tried to get around early, to limited, and I mean limited, success. We finally made it out to the Citadel in the early afternoon. From the view on top, we could see all of Budapest, and it was magnificent. Josh and I got some really amazing photos. Afterwards, we headed down to Grappa to

After staying in Budapest for a couple of weeks I certainly would not agree with that assessment. I throughly enjoyed the city, and Hungarian wine. But it was here that I also lost my traveling companions and had to strike out on my own, if only for a bit. So, enjoy. When I last wrote you, the Denmark Jam Band(minus our rhythm guitarist, John, who wanted to stay in Prague one more day; and our cracked out back-up singer, Anni, for obvious reasons) was struggling to make it to Budapest. We did, but just barely. I sat next to a Hungarian man on the bus who had lived in Germany for thirty years
... read moreHello again, Where did we leave off last time? Oh yes, 6:00 am, in the park with a reformed heroine addict, thinking about breakfast. After breakfast Anni decided she had to leave. Not really sure where she was going, but she went none the less. We decided that it was about time to see the city, so we walked around. A lot. Between the five of us we spent over 250 man hours walking around Prague, which was great. Some cities have many interesting things, but it is boring trying to get from one place to another. Not Prague. Every where we went we saw something interesting. And everywhere we went Sal(and everyone else, but especially Sal) feel asleep at random times and in random places. At this point, we had endured a solid week of

And where better for an American to begin his journey than Prague, home to more ridiculously drunken Americans and Brits than anywhere else in the world, outside of America and Britain of course. Here is how it went down(NOTE: I wrote these as emails while doing the traveling, so outside of the intro these are basically copied and pasted, with some ever so slight proofreading, mainly to protect the innocent who will be reading this and guilty who lived it. Proceed.) Our story begins on a beautiful Sunday morning in Utrecht, the Netherlands. I arise at 9:00 in the morning to prepare for the previously discussed
