lovely lanterns I'm enjoying the blog and I agree with your introduction. Jim and I are happy to be off and out of our "comfort zone." I am tired of Vancouver, where I live the traffic is horrible. There are so many "entitled" drivers.
The Amazing Race "I hope the older couple doesn't get eliminated this round, they seem very nice and you gotta love their bickering... If only they could be faster on the "stair" challenges..."
stories to tell Well, it wouldn't be an adventure if there weren't stories to tell. You're both as bad as each other... too funny.
I'm going to miss reading these as they are always a highlight.
time sure is flying fast... Don't forget to stop in the town of Skoun on your way to Phnom Penh. Also knows as 'Spiderville'!!! Oh yeah... sorry about all those damn steps. I sent an email to the Ministry of Tourism asking them to install escalators at all the temples. Must have gotten lost in their spam filter. Keep havin' fun. xoxo
Phew Bloody hell, we're exhausted just reading about your trip. Now where are you off to? You'll put Rick Steves out of business if you start publishing this stuff
Well, all the best. We kinda wish we were there too, really.
Mike and Joyce
Great Pics... Kia Orana from the Cooks....loving your stories and must say you have taken some amazing photos. Our adventure is far more laid back. Poolside drinks and meals..walks on the beach. Then catching the local transit bus that is marked 'clockwise' or 'anti clockwise' around this 18 mile radius of an island. Great black pearls to be had if you know what to look for. We had a very nice rainy evening which we welcomed as it is BLEEDING hot and muggy. I am melting and am a walking friz head. Life is hard. Love your stories...
he did it.. he did it... yaay! the adventures continue.....as do the surprises!! Really hard to believe that Cambodia is just around the corner. You have seen and done do much... and have not left a stone unturned. You are now the official 'Vietnam Experts!
You are brave. We did ride in cyclos, but you wouldn't get me on a scooter, and you've done it twice. And they certainly didn't have traffic police when we were there in 1994! I'm still jealous.
Old Stogie... Wish I was there beside you on your birthday Doanld to share the sun with an old stogie, a cocktail and a cigar. Wait, I said that twice...
No we know the date! A big hug and lots of birthday wishes to you Don, what a great place to spend THE day. Have fun, be careful rescuing drowned rats!! Love from NiDi

Bravo! Put in my comment one entry too soon. Congratulations, you did it!
I didn't get a helmet then, but in Greece the outer shell kept seperating from its inner piece - quite hilarious. Keep up the good work...NiDi
motorbike taxis Really enjoying reading about all your antics! I did quite a bit of motorbike taxi riding on Koh Samui, all that I really remember is the back of his neck, the smelly greasy hair and the grimy "white" collar!! but - it was literally the coolest form of transpart and actually quite fun. So go for it some time! Luv NiDi
Yaaay!! You did it!! Can I say..."I wish I was there".. one more time!! Never a dull moment that is for sure. Most people go the beach to kick back and be lazy... but not you two!! So much fun... keep it up. Next.. I expect Don to get you into one of those basket boats.. hahahaha
Bravo!!!!!!!!! I am really proud of you as I am sure it took all your courage to get on that bike but wasnt it fun! I thought you might start with a short trip not a 20k ride. LOL as always your blogs are so much fun to read. Its making me think hmm maybe we skip south america and head back to asia for our holidays. i guess I better discuss this with martin.
Well, well, well, what to do, what to do? To blog or not to blog, that is the question. In July 2010 I lost my life partner and good travel buddy Don. Together we had some amazing adventures and I was pretty sure that after he died that would be the end of adventure travel for me. I just couldn't imagine tackling far flung places without him. Buuuut, you know what, my love of travel won out and I am off again.
For my first adventure without Don, I am travelling with my daughter-in-law's dad, Klaus. He lost his wife at the same time as I lost Don. India was a country he had always wanted to... full info
