I'm taking my first trip to Europe and my first largely solo vacation. Should be exciting.

Munich After a 12 hour night train I awoke in Munich and walked around for a while trying to get my bearings and locate hostels. I found three right next to the train station and ended up staying at one called Jeager's. It's the same spelling as the alcohol and the cost included a free shot at the bar in the lobby. More on that later. After locking up my bag I walked around the city for a while. This being noonish I came across a great market/beergarden area that was full of giant beers and lots of bratwurst being eaten by tourists and locals alike. Nearby I walked to the large church clock known as the glockenspiel. It was interesting but not amazing and is very much for stupid tourists. Englischer Garten I wandered further ... read more

Europe » Sweden » Stockholm County » Stockholm June 21st 2009

Hej Thats Swedish for Hey. Since we last spoke I have spent many hours on a train and a few in Stockholm. I bought a netbook computer so these updates should come more often in the future. Also, I think I have enough pictures and stories to do individual entries so expect a wave of these in the next day or three to catch up. Any who, leaving Copenhagen I headed to the city across the water called Malmö. As a note to anyone considering visiting Stockholm by train, they are always full so book in advance. Since I did' plan ahead, I got to spend four hours waking around this small town which really only takes two. It was nice though and I didn't mind because I was in Sweden so the people are beautiful. ... read more

HELLO AGAIN I figured out that I can type a draft of what I have to say on my phone while riding the train so I should be able to put these updates together much faster and much cheaper in the future. So I've spent three nights here in Europe and it already feels like ages. Since i haven't made a real entry here yet I will start from the beginning which I warn you may be long. Advice on length would be appreciated because I don't want to ignore the needs of a largely ADD audience. Flight After a very enjoyable last night in Austin (thanks Austin crew) including Peter Pan Putt-Putt and dollar Lonestars at the Barton Springs Saloon, I awoke very groggy and mildly hungover. My flight to Atlanta was uneventful seeing as ... read more

Europe » Switzerland » North-East » Zürich June 10th 2009

I arrived in Zurich this morning at 7 AM which is midnight in Austin. Turns out at least in this city internet is expensive. I am at the only internect cafe i could find and i am being charged about 3 dollars every ten minutes. That along with the fact that I left the cable to connect my camera to the computer in the hostel means this entry will be particularly useless. I am immediately finding out just how used to a wifi lifestyle a have become. My iphone has been turned off for less than 24 hours and I am going crazy not being able to search where I am and google the best restaurants in a one mile radius. I am not sure I will be able to last a week without a direct ... read more

First let me preface this entry by saying 'Don't Read It'. I just set this blog up and am testing to see if I can figure out the ins and outs so I can assure you my writing is just an attempt to fill space. I might suggest you read this like I would a national geographic and just enjoy the pictures. So for your viewing pleasure here is Dizzy posing in the living room. This picture blog could be really nice if I can make it work. All the blogs they show as examples are well done. It may take a few takes before I get it so if I havent already lost you bear with me. I am moving out of my house on 37th sometime this weekend (picture attempt number 2 showing our ... read more
