Hope this trip's just as eventful as the last one and hope you all enjoy the Blogs as and when i get round to publishing them. As with last time, if you fancy sendin me any messages, hints and tips of things to do whilst i'm away, maybe even the odd challenge/dare, i'll be grateful.

Cheers,

Jay

Now then! I believe that last time I left you I was very poorly sick in a guest house somewhere in Cambodia so I guess that’s as good a place as any to continue the story. Leaving Cambodia I was still feeling a bit sicky poo with the trotts, so the tuk tuk ride to the airport became a bit of a battle between the control I had in the muscles in my bottom, and the pot hole ridden roads. By the end of the trip it was ‘Advantage Gough’ but only by the slightest of margins. One thing I’m sorry I didn’t manage to capture on my photos was the sheer number and size of potholes there are on the roads over there. You think they’re bad in the UK after the frost. There were ... read more

Now then guys. I appreciate i've not got very far with the blogs and i think last time i left you in Phnom Penh so i'll kick start this entry with what i did after, which was go to see the ancient temples of Angkor Waht just outside of Siem Reap. Getting there was a bit of an adventure in itself. I had read previously that the boat up to Siem Reap was possibly the safest of the two options i'd seen as available to me. The roads are fairly hazardous as we've already established so the boat was opted for instead (budget had ruled out the possibility of flying). I had also read that there was supposed to be an upper and lower deck to the boat, however on inspection the boat can better be ... read more

Hi guys! Glad you've found the time to check out the latest installment of adventures. I know it's been a while since my return now but i've only just been able to get round to writing the blog! Anyway, before i begin i'll apologise for the state of these entries. I've been doing so much that i've barely been able to sit down and give this blog the time it deserves so some of the stories might be a bit jumpy as i'm writing from the journal i wrote whilst i was away. The memories are a little hazy but i'm sure after slingin out one or two of these entries the haze will ift and they'll make for better reading. Anyway.... So the time of year came again where i buggered off for a stupidly ... read more

Vegas is the only city on this trip, that as I got closer, I actually got goose bumps. The place is buzzing with atmosphere and it’s hard not to get caught up with it as you enter Las Vegas Boulevard. The whole place is such an assault on the senses, particularly visual, that it’s hard to know where to look. There’s a Pyramid, an Eiffel Tower, World famous Bellagio fountains and huge screens at each of the hotels displaying the shows that are hosted there. After dumping the car I set about trying to take in some of the sights. With it being quite late on I thought I would see a group of the hotels at the south end of the strip and work my way up to the middle part of the strip the ... read more

I arrived at about 10am on the Friday morning in Phoenix expecting my friend Tom to be waiting there open armed, teary eyed, sayin how good it was to see me again after he’d been away from the UK for the best part of 4 months. When I arrived I was somewhat deflated to find out that there were no tears, no open arms, in fact, there was no Tom. The lazy bugger had been out on the lash the night before and not only had he got up late, he was also still too drunk to drive so he had had to get one of the other poor unfortunates on his course to drive him to the airport to pick me up. We then travelled from Phoenix International airport to Goodyear airport which is where ... read more

I arrived in San Diego during the early hours of the morning after setting off at stupid o’clock from LA. This I put down to Liam and his alarm clock which he set for 5:30 in the morning and then left in his locker. Next to my head. I was due to set off early anyway so I thought ‘why not just get up’. So I arrived in San Diego, bleary eyed and disorientated and decided that after dropping off the hire car, it would be a great idea to walk from my hostel to Mission Beach. This was easily the stupidest idea I’d had of the trip. After walking 5 miles I asked a fellow if I had already gone too far and if I was heading in the wrong direction. ‘Nah man. You got ... read more

I had stopped over in Santa Barbara for the evening after travelling down Pacific Highway 1 but was so shattered from all the driving that I didn’t even venture out of my motel. I couldn’t tell you what the place was like but it’s supposed to be very nice…. From there I was to drive on to LA. My first port of call though was Malibu. I had donned my mankini in hope of being able to replicate those infamous scenes from Baywatch but alas, it was not meant to be. I couldn’t even get on the beach at Malibu but looking at it, I don’t think that was such a bad thing. The beach was surrounded by barb wire fencing and housing which was actually built on the beach front. The whole place looked a ... read more

I had just picked up the hire car at 5:30 am and was confused by pretty much everything. The steering wheel was on the worng side, every road had waaay too many lanes of traffic each side and I wasn’t entirely sure of the highway code in California. Within about 5 minutes I was to learn one very helpful caveat of information. You are allowed to turn right on a red light. Within another 5 minutes I was to learn my second lesson. Provided you drive like a psychopath within the speed limit, you can get away with pretty much anything, ESPECIALLY on the freeway. Overtake, undertake, cut people up, slam on, weave, all seem to be acceptable driving styles. Indicators I’m convinced are purely for decorative purposes and the horn should be used at least ... read more

And so I was to leave Fort Collins and the girls, bound for the sunny shores of San Francisco. I had always wanted to go to San Francisco since I was a child simply and solely to see the Golden Gate Bridge. For me it represented a benchmark, an achievement I thought I would never reach on account of me having an inherent fear of flying as many of you know. As a side note you’ll be pleased to know that finally, after spending God knows how many hours on a plane during this trip, I am not too bothered at the thought of flying anymore. I wouldn’t say I love it but it’s more of a ‘non issue’ to me than ever before. Once again, I digress. Sorry. I arrived in San Francisco to nothing ... read more

FINALLY! I hear you all cry. Yes it has been a while since the last entry. Sorry for the delay but i've either been too busy or not had access to the internet. Apologies. So then, on to Colorado. It was here that i was to meet up with some chums i had met on my previous trip. The names of the poor unfortunates are Reilly and Marissa and for those of you who followed the previous trip you should be up to speed on who they are. The girls had promised me that if i was going to miss Colorado then i would be 'missing the greatest state in America'. With a promise like that i thought why not give it a go? As i flew into Denver airport it became obvious that something wasn't ... read more
