Al Archa Hello Genna, I trust all is well in Kyrgystan. I really enjoyed hearing of your travels to the mountains, your visit to Al Archa and your dinner with Rahat's relatives. I wish I could have been with you to enjoy the beautiful country and the friendly people of Kyrgyzstan. Perhaps someday soon I will be able to hike the mountains with you and Rahat. Keep up your blog- you have a real talent as a writier and perhaps you should think of an occupation that will enable you to use this ability. Best Wishes to all!
Hi Genna Hi Genna,
Debbie sent me your blog. It is nice to hear from you. I never saw you to congratulate you on your engagement. I hope you and Rahat will be very happy. When do you plan on returning to the states? Will Rahat be returning with you? I am curious, how does the green card work? Does he have to wait for a period of time to get a job? Jobs here are really tough right now. Michigan is suffering. I feel so bad for all of the people out of work. Kate is sitting next to me and says hi Genna!!!
I just returned home from work and am very tired. I am going to log off right now. I will keep tabs on your blog.
Love,
Karen
Hey! Hey Genna,
Just letting you know that I finally found a link to your blog! We'll be checking it all the time, so keep us posted on whatever's going on out there. Sounds like you're having a great time so far!
P.S. Sledding on the back of a car isn't a Krgyz thing...we've been doing that in Livonia since I was a little kid. =P
Classes I hope you don't get lonely with only one group class! :-)
I love hearing about your adventures! Maybe I'll come visit you in Bishkek! Do you know if it's expensive to fly there?
WOW!! Genna, it is hard to believe you are finally in Kyrgyzstan. You have waited and prepared a long time for this trip to the other side of the earth! It is wonderful to hear of the spectacular scenery, hospitality of Rahat's family, and quaintness of the culture. We can't wait to see photos!
love and hugs, mom
Moscow State You are so lucky to have stayed in Moscow state, it is much more ornate that St.Petersberg University which is very gloomy and desolate. The beauty salon in the school reminds me of how well dressed the russian women always are, our student group felt very out of place in our american scrub clothes =)
I am thinking of taking the transsib., and then going to moscow and st. petersburg. I am a female traveling alone...any thoughts/suggestions? Thank you so so much.

Christmas Greetings Welcome home, Genna! I appreciate each of the insights you have shared. Hope you will offer more as you reflect on your journey. Wishing you and your family a blessed Christmas and New Year!

There is something about leaving that always leaves feelings of good and sad. Both are ok to feel. The people you have met and made friends with will always remember you as you of them. Cherish those moments, they will make you a stronger and wiser person.
See you Sunday and Safe Trip.
home soon! Hi Genna,
You sound so emotionally conflicted about your return-sad to say goodbyes but anxious for the hellos. You have made so many new friends and have experienced so much that most of us have not. So, a new chapter of your life will begin and I hope it will bring you as much joy as your Moscow chapter. We look forward to seeing you on Sunday and hearing more of your wonderful adventures. Love, Aunt Sue
I can't believe the time has really come for you to return home......a day I have been waiting for for a very long time! All of us are busy (especially me) preparing for your homecoming: cleaning, cooking your favorite things, planning, etc. How wonderful to have your last days so filled with good friends and more interesting adventures.
I believe Devotchka v Moskve has beautifully transformed into Young Woman v Moskve! See you upon your arrival!!!!
Last days....New ones here! Hi Genna,
I bet there is a part of you that will be sad to leave now that you are able to get around so welll in Moscow. Your latest outing to the ballet sounds wonderful. The Russians have sure perfected the art.
But, I for one, will be very glad to see you! You sure had me concerned at first when you encountered some difficulties and trouble, but you sure made it through it! You have really grown from this experience, which is the intent of the program.
We all look forward to seeing you soon Genna. Love, Aunt Sue
What fun....the ballet, the film studio, etc.etc....it sounds like you are making the most of your few days left. This has been such an awesome adventure for you, and a great vicarious adventure for the rest of us!!! Keep on blogging.........we love it!
Mead and Suzdal Hi Genna,
We didn't get a chance to add some comments on Thanksgiving because we all went to Pittsburgh to share the holiday with the PA Workmans! We took Duke with us but Lola went on vacation to Barbs.
We are thinking of you and are looking forward to seeing you very soon. Your experiences are just so interesting to read about. I am sure this experience is one to cherish forever! Your pics are very good as well.
I think you can get Mead here. It's made from honey I think.
Oh, if you are able to swing it, I have a favor to ask. If you go to one of the markets, I would like to have 2 decks of playing cards. Don't go to any trouble, but if you can I will repay you. Thanks Genna.
Keep the blog entries coming! We all enjoy reading them.
Eric says "hi cuz"! Later....Love, Aunt Sue
Your trip to the villages sounded like so much fun. I laughed when I read about Lena getting red in the face, and Alex and Judy in a fake wedding. Enjoy your last few days......13 to be exact....can't wait to see you and hear more insights into your Russian adventures!
Happy belated thanksgiving! Hope you are doing well, and sorry I haven't written to you in so long. I miss you! Lately I have been so busy with test upon test, it's getting to be too much. I can't wait until you're home and we can get together, I hope to see you soon!
We just viewed your pictures and were really impressed. We are going to Anarctica next week for days. We hope to see a lot of penguins. We met a coupple that did the trip from Russia but they said the accomadations from Argentna are much better. They traveled on aconverted Russian military ship. We go on a modern expedition boat. We will enjoy exchanges our trips with you this summer.
