Thanksgiving I hope you had a great Thanksgiving. Over here, we had a great dinner. We had turkey, pumpkin pie, mash potatoes, etc. I can't wait to see you.
Happy Thanksgiving Hi Genna,
Happy Thanksgiving! As usual, your Mom made a fantastic green salad, and melt-in-your mouth mashed potatoes. Thanskgiving, and our dinner tonight, is as American as it gets, right down to the pumpkin
pie and cranberry salad. We're all sitting around the fire with coffee and/or wine, and just enjoying each other's company.
I hear you are doing well, and I hear you'll be coming home before Christmas. We look forward to seeing you, Genna. Be safe and aware, and take good care.
Love,
Debbie and family
Thanksgiving Hi Genna,
We are having a wonderful holiday. It would be better with you here though. We will have to have sweet potatoes for Christmas. They are my favorite too!!!! My Mom made them tonight, they were the best.
I hope all is well in Russia. It sounds like you have had a wonderful experience, but have really learned the importance of family. The holidays would never be the same with out all of us together. Even though we don't see eachother much through out the year, it is great to have everyone near.
Genna, I have always known that family is the most precious gift of all, but I have really really known it to be since Bob passed away. Each of us brings something different to the table, and we have missed your delightful conversation today. Enjoy your Thanksgiving, we will see you at your house on December 10th.
Love Ya,
Karen
Happy Thanksgiving Hi,
We miss you too. We're anxious to see you at Christmas.
I spent last weekend at Matt and Jen's babysitting, You won't believe how much he talks.
I had a great time but came home very tired.
I haven't kept up with your blog as I have been away quite a bit. But i will go home and read it this weekend. Hope all is well. I hear you met someone (male) who you enjoy. Will read the blg to find out more.
Take care,
Love you'

I'm glad you have a pleasant Thanksgiving Hello from Dennis. It sounds like you had a good time in Moscow? This is my first Thanksgiving with my new extended family. I'm having a great time and the food was great! Sounds like you've had a good time over there with some up's and down's.
Barb and I went ring shopping last week and she is down to one of two choices. I am hoping to put the ring on her finger over Christmas. That is if she will say "yes" to my proposal...
Have a great time and enjoy your time with your new found friends. This is an experience you'll never forget.
Well, I guess we will be seeing you soon, probably at Brian's for Christmas? Take care and now that I have your address I'll check in before you leave. I'm looking forward to taking you out on the boat next summer. Maybe have a better one I'm looking at a 36 footer.

food = americaine savor that which you can enjoy and experience in your current situation. True ethnic cuisine is inspiring and memorable; take the time to soak it in... I'll make you whatever you want when you get back...no beets...
Thanksgiving Greeting I'm glad that you were able to celebrate Thanksgiving in Moscow! We missed you this year. I've taken several photos to send your way as requested. All is going well, the weather is unusually warm (50-60 F). Tomorrow I'll be setting up the outdoor Christmas Tree lights with Geoff. We look forward to seeing you in just a few weeks. Love and Best Wishes- Dad.
Happy Thanksgiving! We miss you so much, Genna. Thanksgiving was just not the same without you. How sweet of Lena to arrange for your group to get together for turkey. Being at Uncle Bob's has been really nice, as usual. Little Joseph has now officially inherited our pilgim hat! You would have loved the salad with mini sweet peppers and baby corns. I thought of you when I sipped one of Brian's sweet wines; a Reisling Spatlese. Crimean sweet sparkling wine is what Brian recommends from Russia. Enjoy your last days of the program. It will be fun to celebrate your return just 16 days from now :) :)
Thanksgiving Hi Genna: Happy Thanksgiviing. The gang is all here. GREAT FOOD as always. We ALL miss YOU and look foeward to your return in a couple of weeks.

coming home Hi Genna~I saw your mom at Famous Footwear today. She is so excited to have you home soon. This experience will change you in ways that will take momths and perhaps years for you to realize. Most importantly, you KNOW you can take care of yourself. That is so vital, especially for a woman. Amelia and I ore looking forward to seeing you.
What a wonderful experience you have had in Kiev and Moscow! I loved the photo of you with an owl on your shoulder. It will be interesting to hear the story behind that one! Kolya sounds like a perfect gentleman, and lots of fun, too! Enjoy your remaining 19 days in Russia...........we will miss you at Thanksgiving, but are planning a belated feast for your return. :) Lots of love and hugs!!!
Genna! It's great to see that your last month in Russia has been such an improvement over the first few. Sorry Wendy and I haven't been able to comment much this semester; we've been absolutely swamped with work. Still, we've been thinking of you and making plans for your triumphant return to the States![
By the way, when exactly are you coming home? Wendy and I want to make sure we'll be able to see you before she has to go to Shanghai on 12/20. Drop me an e-mail whenever you've got a free moment.
Genna I'm so jealous of your "Moskovskii zhizn'!" :-) Everything seems so new and different -- even if some of those new and different things are bad, at least it's not the same old boring thing over and over here in Ann Arbor. Hearing about your experiences has made me even more antsy to go to Russia than I ever was before! I'm tempted to stop reading your journal simply because every time I do, I am so disappointed that I'm stuck here in America! ;-)
Wow, Genna! Kiev sounds wonderful! I'm so excited to go to Ukraine now! It sounds like you had a really good time! Everyone there sounds so nice! That lady on the train must be really stuck up--of course the signs in Ukraine will be in Ukrainian! :-) I hope you can make it back to Ukraine before you come back to America!
Amazing travel I have gone through a long period of planning before going to Ukraine for the first time. Must admit that it was difficult to find a comprehensive resource on Ukrainian tourism. Most of the web sites are commercial and doubtful in terms of the information they publish.
Eventually one of my wife’s friends told us about the new travel website www.traveltoukraine.org , and I was amazed how much information was out there. All travel issues were covered: what to pack, visas, medical insurance, transportation, Ukrainian cuisine, money, opera schedules, and much much more. They even had maps of Ukraine.
Traveltoukraine.org, the official travel website and guide for Ukraine, is sponsored by the U.S.-Ukraine Foundation. The U.S.-Ukraine Foundation also has another website (www.buyukraine.org ) where one can purchase various travel, road, political maps of Ukraine that were handy on my trip to Kyiv, Lviv, Simferopil, and Odessa. I highly recommend a visit to www.traveltoukraine.org since I believe that it is the best travel website regarding Ukraine right now.
To Lauren It is great to hear from you!
Wow it sounds like you're busy! I think about all of you a lot too. We will have to have a family reunion sometime soon and we can talk about our study abroad experiences!
Incredible Journey! Genna, I am just returning home from a trip to San Francisco with your Mom. She told me a great deal about your experience in Moscow and the recent trip to Kiev. Now that I've read your Travel Blog, I feel as though I've taken the incredible journey with you! Thanks for sharing your experience! Your Mom is so very proud of you. Hope that I have the opportunity to meet you one day! Until then, I'll be checking in on you via the blog and your Mom! Take care! Jan Arno, Fort Thomas, Kentucky
Time for Large Intimidating Brother to show up...? Your folks gave me your blog address last weekend when we visited and heard all about their trip to see you. What an adventure. Sounds like you're "getting your money's worth" and meeting nice people. Glad to hear that things are going well.
Mr. Kaniut
I've tried to argue to russians as well, but basically they are too full of propaganda, so it's pointless. There are nations who are happy that the USSR collapsed - Baltics forexample, and you couldn't prove anyone here, that life was better back then... (except old russian people). Have fun!
Glad to hear everything is working out alright, and i hope you enjoy your break. This week is going to be kind of hard, i got a econ exam, on wednesday, and a calc exam thursday. Have fun on your break, and keep in touch
