Hey All I dont have time for too much of a write up. But at the moment we are in Pokhara, a very cruizy place, a bit like freo. so we are enjoying having some time to relax. Hello All It's now monday after work on the second week of building. We have two sites where we are extending existing buildings, the walls are stone and clay mud, taken directly from the earth right next to the house so we are a model of resourcfulness. The only set back is the water, being the end of the dry season they are in very short supply, and the watering holes are a fair old trek to get too. Also there is not a scerik of natural flat ground! The people here are hopelessly friendly and welcoming. we are getting to know our home partners very well, and spent the last friday afternoon dancing on the site. Hi All I have attached a few more photos of general working and our visit to the inhabited build site. I also need to explain that the girls insisted on buying us stupid outfits to wear on site, so thats why I am wearing a sequin singlet! So that brings me to the last build day, we just had a half day of work, then our farewell ceremony. I wasn't too sure what to expect from it but it was really touching. A lot of nice words were said, and they presented us all with small gifts and a certificate. Then afterwards we took a lot of photos, said goodbyes and signed each others t-shirts. Hello again Well the build is now over, and im in the hostel nursing a hangover after some sort of mardie gra, halloween street party last night. I will try to pick up where I left it last! So after the first week of work we had a bit of time on the weekend to do some sight seeing. We went up to a volcano on the saturday, which was cool, then travelled 3 and a half hours to get to a beach on sunday. It was a nice beach but it didnt hold a candle to the ones back home. Hello All! I apologize for leaving my first blog so late. We arent left with much time after work and its hard to find a computer to do this. But anyway, we are four days into the build and I have gone through a pair of shoes, sunnies, gloves and an entire bottle of sunscreen. But in that time we have met a handful of the home partners and made good friends with them. they all currently live on the edge of a river which is prone to flooding so the city has offered them these houses, which they are to repay back to habitat, or they can leave the city all together with an incentive from the government.
