Yay for WELS!!!!!! That was kind of how it was for me last summer when I was working at camp. 3 months of no WELS services or people to talk to:( So glad you found one in London, even though it took a lot of work and patience on yours and Anna's part! Good luck on your huuuge essay about publicizing private life. With a little creativity I'm sure you could make it very interesting--but 3,000 words--that's insane! lol
see you soon em
Emily,
I am so enjoying reading your journal entries, what a fabulous opportunity you have being there and seeing so many things that most of us will never experience. I look forward to seeing more pictures and seeing you this summer.
God bless
Love Darlene
Love the pictures Hi Emily,
I am reading through your journal today and have to tell you that the flowers are beautiful, they are one of my favorite things to take pictures of. God Bless and keep you safe throughout your travels.
Love Darlene
Beautiful Pictures! Hey Em,
It was so fun to relive your visit through the pictures and your kind description of the events that took place. I like how you emphasized the mozz. and tomato salad- which I will now translate for other readers: the meal I made flopped. I bought the pork from the wrong store or something... and it stank. Being the best guest ever, you didn't even complain. What a dear. Thanks so much for visiting! We miss you and your smiling face and your use of words like "dodgy". Have a great time in Greece! Don't let the stress of travel ruin anything- you'll have a great time, I'm sure! Love ya!
elbows Hey Emily! I have the same problem with my elbows! I could never have been a cheer leader because it would freak people out too much. ha ha. Maybe the elbows belong with the "Hartwig" shoulders we were talking about. =)
Oh EM! It sounds like you are having lots of fun!!! The pictures look like fun as well!! I'm sorry about the whole church thing :( Hopefully you can find a church that gives you some meaning spiritually but if not, you can always resourt to reading the Bible on your own! I know that's not the same as worshipping with a group of people, but something that can keep you in track. I hope you were able to get your essay done!! Miss you lots dearie!!
love ya!!
Kathryn
Hey Emily I am so glad that you got to go on the London Eye it is breath taking up there and you can get amazing pictures. And for the Tower of London I really think you and your mom would enjoy it. Its a very good place to visit. Make sure if you do you see the Crowned Jewels, which is the jewelery and crowns that the kings and queens wear or wore. They are so beautiful. I like how you took a picture of the pigeon. I am terrified of birds and I remember I thought there were alot in London. Well wait till Italy. They are just covering the ground. It was really scary for me. London is a huge town with so much to see. But it is awesome to get to experience. Well its greating hearing that your having an AWESOME time. Talk to you later and I can't wait to read more.
Sometimes I wonder...men our age DO seem to be very comfortable with touching each other, more than American guys. I didn't want to mention this, though - the guys that night were making out.
Hey Emily it sounds like your spring break is going to be a blast. and yes i am jealous. if i had to choose between austria and switzerland i would pick switzerland, i loved it there the mountains are amazing, but both are great you would enjoy either. and i am so excited for you to get to go to london. i LOVED it so much. i even told my parents that if i ever have the money to buy a vacation home i want one in either london or switzerland. i can't wait to read your trip about london to see what you did and how you liked it.
Travels through Italy A train is probably the cheapest and fastest way to go, if you can find another that's better for your schedule. A bus might work too, but that's slower and not as pleasant. I don't know of any other train deals though... try looking through their website some, www.trenitalia.com. you can read it in english if you need to. Hope this helps, have fun in italia!!
Getting around Italy I'll be honest and say that we haven't really left Rome yet, except on school trips. I do believe that the train you be your best choice, but I really have no other information about passes, or tickets or anything. We're heading up to Florence next weekend, so if I find anything out, I will keep you in mind! I don't know if you are planning to visit Rome at all, but if you have any questions about that - I'd be more then willing to help you out! Keep in touch...
Connecting? Hey Emily! You look like you are having just an amazing time seeing all kinds of new things and meeting new people! Wow. I think it's pretty common for someone who is doing something completely different and new in life to get sick. Possibly a part of culture shock, I've heard... I know I've had experiences like that. We hope that you can make it here to Plzen sometime before you go home! Let us know what works for you!
Love ya!
Becky
get well soon Hi Emily, I just read all your journal entries--very interesting and descriptive. I liked your pictures as well, and I'm looking forward to following all your adventures this semester. I hope you do feel better very soon. God bless you!
To Miss Photographer Emily your pictures are so beautiful! The angles are awesome. I just wanted to tell you. :) And I also want to tell you that I'm jealous. Winchester looks amazing and old and wonderful. I want to come visit but of course I have no $$ to do so.... Hope you feel better soon!
Love ya,
Britta
Hello Hey Emily,
I'm sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well. I hope that you feel better soon. I know what you mean about the church. Go to as many as you can while you are in Europe there are so many amazing ones. I even got tears in my eyes at one the churches that I had visisted while in Europe. They all are just so old and have so much history behind them. There isn't as many of them like that back home. I can't wait to read more. And thanks for putting pics on I enjoy looking at those to and I know how much you love that camera. Well rest up and feel better. Love Always, Kristal
'Ello from the states Hey, Emily - best wishes, I'll be checking up on you to see how you're doing now and then. Sounds like fun. Yeah, I remember when Jer and I went to London - it wiped us out of money quick. Oh, well. You shouldn't have a problem - just always go out on the town with two cute British boys who will buy you drinks!
Hey Emily! Hey Cuz, I'm so glad you made it to England safely! Your life sounds so fun and interesting so far!! Do you just love those English accents? Have fun and be safe!! Love, Meredith
Hello Hey Emily,
It sounds like you are already having tons of fun. There is plenty more. I am so excited for you. I hope to get the chance to return to Europe again. It is a huge culture difference but also a great experience to get to be a part of it. Thanks for sending me this sight. It is exciting to see what new things you are learning and all the amazing things you are getting to see. I can't wait to read more. Don't worry we are freezing are butts off back home. There were over a hundred schools closed today due to the unbearable cold weather. But I'm hanging in there. Well have FUN!!! Which I know you will.
LOVE, Kristal
First Impression It sounds like you are getting adjusted to life in England. But come on... ordering a BEER at a pub, taking charge to get a taxi, NOT being the crabby one, walking through a cemetary to school, flirting with boys while watching SOCCER? These are all things I would NEVER picture you doing. I hope England doesn't change you TOO much! :)
It will be interesting to compare your impression of England NOW to your impression when you leave.
Can't wait to hear about your classes!
PS - I love reading your writing: you described everything so well that I feel like I experienced everything with you!
i miss you! Hey Em~
Well I'm soooo happy you guys got there ok and that you're enjoying yourself and people are being super friendly! I'm gonna send you an email cuz I don't have much time now to write you a whole lot (I'm actually at work...icky.) and I think I just about died when I read you're walking around in comfortable weather...we're talking about -36 degrees (w/ windchill) here and it seriously SUCKS. :( But....I DO have some good things to say about my weekend...:D so I'll keep you in suspense until I get around to emailing you and Anna! I miss you mucho, enjoy yourself and get used to the "wrong" side of the car! lol
love always,
robyn
