Hey so we wanted to get away from the usual tourist route so took a bus further west to Sangkulaburi, we were now close to the Burma boarder, this town had a wonderful mixture of cultures, from the Burmes refugees to the western Thias. We took a canoe out on the great lake and genrally relaxed in this very beautiful town. The only thng was that every night we had to watch a video by the tour group who were using our hotel as lodgings, elephant trecking from 10 solid minets whilst eating a green curry, great entertainment. ... read more

Our first stop in Malaysia was Tioman Island, we were eager to do some more diving and some more sunning!!! We loved Tioman and had a special encounter with a pack of wild monkeys on you guessed it Monkey Bay!! We did some good dives on some wrecks that had been specially sunk by the marine park to help encorage the growth of coral, it was really magical!! After Tioman we made or way further up the coast to the Perhenthian Islands, due to Hari Rayer the Muslim festival everything was shut and all the coach services were booked solid so we had to take public transport and lots of it, we got to the island eventally on a lovely calm evening the next few days would be a different story, bacause thats when the monsoons ... read more

We arrived in Singapore and couldn't get a room anywhere, we walked around the centre of town till 2am, until a taxi driver took us to a hotel, "it's not that bad" elmo said, trying to make light of the situation, until a cockroach ran out of my pillow, I didn't sleep to well that night, anyway we found a better place the next day and fell in love with Singapore. We had been told that it only had shopping to offer, which is true it does have more malls then I have seen in my entire life, London's Oxfords street is more like Farnham town centre in comparisson. The gardens, museums everything is just top class. The photos say it all, elmo's new camera has the proof!!!... read more

We had our very own Bure with cold running water, and gecko who took a liking to us and our belongings, including elmos foam headphone, my hair brush, ... read more

Santiago South America » Chile » Santiago » Santiago By Elmo Abbey June 20th 2007 Abbey Elliott Well one of the longest days of our life began at a fairly leisurely pace. We sent a parcel home each after breakfast. We spent a little time on the net and had our last Speights beer and our last pie with tears in our eyes. We caught a shared minivan from the hostel to the airport in Auckland around lunchtime. Seemed to be a great day to be leaving New Zealand as it was lashing rain. After checking in and paying our airport tax (What is it with this side of the world and outrageous airport... read more
