We arrived in Vilcabamba, after 2 coach rides!! A very beautiful small town at the bottom of the Andies, from here we will be going to Peru!! All the hotels (well good ones) were booked up so we ended up being ripped off for 3 nights. We had a good time though walked up a mountain which we were not allowed to take money or cameras due to muggings (so no pictures of that). We mainly relaxed here as there wasn´t much else to do!! So we made it to Riobamba, for the Sunday train to Alausi. Riobamba was an OK place we recon its where all the Ecuadorians meet there match, full of kids, there were fair ground rides ect... We stayed in Hostel El Tren, not great see the photo, our bed was so high we had to jump to get into it!!! and the shower was not that hot! plus the man above I noticed peeping at me (what a perv) Our book described it as very modern well maybe in the 80s. 2 hours up the coconut highway from Salvador is Praia do Forte, which is a quiet town with beautiful beaches palms etc.... We have been chilling here for a while in the Hostel International as it is a really nice spot. There is a turtle sanctuary, monkeys in the trees and birds of prey circling the beaches. It's a bit pricey so we have been eating tuna pasta which is Chef Michels special favorite!!! [View Full Entry]
