Catching Up It's Friday night and we're catching up on your trip. Did you ever think you'd have an opinion about switchbacks and how much of a grade you are driving? We didn't go to the Tetons so I really enjoyed your picts there. We are envious that all of you saw a bear! Also, Ben and Alea -- most excellent drawings!! I can't wait to read what you think of Bryce.
Beautiful for sure! This is a neat project guys! I've enjoyed reading your entries and seeing the magnificent photographs. We are headed for retreat for the week in Mystic CT on Ender's Island. We'll see you when we get back. I'll have to look at the rest of your entries then as we won't have internet access - we'll there really isn't time for it either. Have a safe journey home. We'll pray for you on retreat. Pax Christi, Andre
Awesome! The Tetons look Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwesome!
I've been to that Chapel but had forgotten all about it. Thanks for the wonderful pix....
Enjoy your adventure as it takes you into Red Utah!
Great memories of our trip. Reading your blog takes me back to our trip west in 2002. Yellowstone is truly a jewel!
There are so many magnificent places to see in the U.S.
I hope you enjoy the barbecue.
Pax Christi, Andre
Enjoy reading about your trip! Hi Chris, Lisa and kids,
I am enjoying following your trip and seeing your pictures as we have been to most of those same places in the West! The West is awesome - so much to see everywhere! Keep sending the stories and pictures! Lois (Dave's Mom)
Cool Mammoths Wow. Looks like a great stop. We were interested in the Hall of Records behind Mt. Rushmore too. Speaking of Mt. Rushmore, we had a couple of injuries on our trip. When Elliot (11 years) sat down on the wooden benches on the area where you overlook Mr. Rushmore, he got a bunch of wood shards on his shorts and about 15 splinters guess where. I'm hoping the heat wave cools as you drive west.
Loving Your Vacation I have enjoyed reading about your daily adventures and since I have never been to the places that you are visiting, it is like taking a vacation myself. I'm encouraged that Lisa is still hanging in there and has not taken a fight home. Ben, the rings across the pool sounded like a fun Ben thing. Continue to enjoy your adventure!!
Answer to Ecology question Mr. Lehman,
The consensus of the Echterlings is that the answer is the amount of available water --very little right now - or usually.
Chris
Key Dave, I thought you said we should take the key with us so on the way back we could drop off your cooler etc. Sorry for the confusion. We wll safe guard it. If you give me your families e-mails I will add them to our list to get the e-mails directly.
Chris
The house key? Hey Chris and family,
Looks like you folks are cruisin' Wyoming in STYLE! Tonight might be your close encounter of some kind or another.
Hey, was wonderin' if you left my house key off or accidentally took it along with ya? I made 2 new house keys today, so no sweat if you still have it.
Looking forward to reading more about your adventures. I sent your blog onto my mom and roommate Andy who both had some interest in knowing what you all were up to!
Enjoy the trip!
Dave
Reliving our vacation through yours I'm reliving the drive through Wyoming via your picts. I'm glad you were still able to do the Black Hills despite the fire. There was one near Yellowstone when we were out there. Can't wait to hear about your first dump (RV, of course). Lisa -- you are a better woman than me. I didn't get behind the wheel at all. RoVer. Good name.
hello out west I TRIED TO SEND A RESPONSE TO YOUR BLOG, BUT I'M NOT SURE THAT IT WENT. SO, HERE WE GO AGAIN. GINGER IS DOING WELL. NO PEOPLE FOOD. SHE TOLERATED THE BOAT ON SUNDAY WITH LUCY. IT WAS A LITTLE DIFFICULT GETTING HER ON AND OFF. IT HAS BEEN 100 DEGREES FOR THE LAST 3 DAYS. I GUESS THAT IS A HEAT WAVE, GLAD TO HEAR THAT THE TRIP IS GOING WELL. KEEP UP THE BLOGS.
LOVE YOU, GRANDPA AND GRANDMA E
cell phone actually the picture of me with the cell phone in the airport in Dnver was when I called Dave to let him know we arrived and were waiting for the shuttle. My boss did call me the next day though to ask about questions regarding an offer letter we were making to a nurse practitioner - I don't tell him we were just crossing into Wyoming with my wife at the wheel of the RV for the first time. no cell service here in Hot Springs.
Chris
Safe travel Glad you are there safely. Just a comment - hope there won't be too many pictures of you with a cell phone. Love the commentary, Ben. Keep it up.
little flags yep, they still have the little flags, but disappontingly, you have to push the flags up - they don't have the little strings like real flag poles like they used to. The place said "since 1974" so when we were there as kids 30 years ago it must have just recently opened.
Chris
Bon Voyage! Hi Doodleloops,
Have a wonderful memory-filled adventure, I'll be looking forward to each day's experiences.....God bless you all and keep you safe and happy!
Excellent Adventure I am excited that you are doing the blog. I'm looking forward to hearing about your adventures. Ben...don't stand too close to the cliff, we dont want history to repeat itself!! lol
Happy journaling
......warm fuzzy thoughts are with all of you......
A Sedona Morning We're in a peaceful Sedona campground at about 8 a.m. Mark is fishing with the boys and I thought I'd check email. This site looks great. I still haven't figured out how to do a trackng map and update it as we go. The time changes have been a bit of an adjustment. I didn't realize Arizona was 3 hours behind because they don't do daylight savings. I brought your itinerary with me and am going to pull it out to see where we overlap. Glad you are doing the blog. I'm still not a camper but this is a great way for the kids to see this part of the country. -- Maria
What the slot canyons really look like I hope you folks do get to see the slot canyons just outside of Page AZ (which is also where Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell are located. I went there in 2004 and it's beautiful, but I also heard that there was a water flood through it and they were damaged (after I was there). You can see some of my pictures at http://picasaweb.google.com/drnetnow/Arizona2004WithPetraAndThomas and a word of warning to level set your expectations - if it is open a lot of people go there so you gotta wait for the good shots and put up with the wrath of other impatient photographers who want to get that perfect shot - the last picture on the attached link shows how much standing around there is waiting for people to clear out!
This will be our family's first...
- RV trip
- Travel blog
- 3 week trip
We're looking forward to it!
We hope you enjoy the story of our journey.... full info
