Here we are again on another ferry boat, 45 min drive from Athens and then 45 minutes on the ferry, again full of people going to the big island of Evia. We left the vehicle behind parked somewhere along the driveway. Staying at Papou and Yaya's house an apartment on the hill over a store a block from the sea, with a beautiful balcony looking out to the sea through the houses. How nice, with a nice view of the hills. (unfortunately here again they had a large fire just the day prior and one of the Canadian water planes went down hitting a pole and could not rise and 2 pilots were killed. Those darn fires. Oh I forgot to tell you, during the last 2 weeks the temperatures hit a whopping 43 to 44 ... read more

We are now back at Amaliada, going each day to the beech of Kourouta. This area is a farm community with farming of hugh pumpkins and watermellon just sitting out in the fields. We drove past many vegetables stands with the hugh vegetables witting pretty and looking so delicious. The water is so beautiful, the night time with a long walkway along the beech full of people eating, corn being grilled ontop of grills, bars with lovely lounges and music and lights. Ice cream a favorate of our again. Each day we would swim again and sit under the grass umbrellas. A nice drink in our hands of nice mixed juices. We also spent time walking in the night in the square of Amaliada, visiting Alex while he was working at the crepe shop. How nice. ... read more

From the mainland port we were off to Kefalonia, that is Nick Arlene and myself. The ferry was impressive. A nice coffee and a rest. Our place of stay was at Rodi Studios (www.rodistudios.com) Efi, the owner was herself so pleasant and beautiful, with beautiful, quiet, clean with extremely impressive views overlooking the pool and sea and mountains. We swam in the pool each morning and then off to beeches at least one or 2 sometimes a day. Nick said we covered with car basically almost every main road on the island from one side to the other. The beeches were absolutely beautiful with each one with something different to offer. In the evening we also traveled several klm to the big city of Argostoli, the city of Scala and other villages along the way. We ... read more

Another train ride through beautiful Italy countryside. After arriving at Santa Lucia rail station, I realized I was not the only tourist around. Then off in a water bus to my stop at the Rialto station, just a few steps from the famous Rialto Bridge. Oh Dear, did I really have to bring that big suitcase, which I actually had to carry all the way up and then all the way down the steps (No lifts here). I am now really putting all that gym time to use as without it I do not know what I would have done. Anyways, my hotel Ovidius was just on the other side, overlooking the famous bridge and canal. How great was that. A superb place to stay. Again I walked km, got lost, with not much help ... read more

I arrived in the morning early with the Eurostar train. A very nice ride from Rome to Florence to see the green countryside. Once I arrived, although my hotel was close to the station, as I planned, i did once again have a bit of difficulty finding it. It is not that I have a hard time reading maps, but that my map was poor. once you get here, the hotel gives you a proper clear map. Anyways the hotel londra was very nice. A delicious buffet breakfast this morning of eggs, bacon sausage, breads fruit jams yogert. Boy I sure load up. With the hope that it holds me for a good portion of the day. Then off I was to see the wonderful sites. I waked along the river to St. Mich Angelo ... read more
