OK, So once again we are changing plans! Now we are heading back to Malaysia to go diving at the Parention Islands. I will be doing my rescue diver course as I now have enough dives to move forward with my education. We will likely spend a few week in Malaysia beofre heading home as we have be offered a fantastic business opportunity that we just can't pass up. Hi y'all! It's been a while, but here we are still alive and well. We spent 2 weeks in Koh Lanta yet again and it's beginning to feel more like home everytime. Who knows it may actually be home some day soon... when opportunity knocks! We just arrived in Krabi today and plan on going to Bangkok tomorrow. After a few days there shopping, we are heading to Cambodia or laos by bus. We will decide in a few days which one first. I'm leaning towards Laos 1st, then Cambodia. It will be a few long bus rides but hopefully worth it. We have now many pets all around the world, just too bad we can't bring them all back home. We are eating more and more western food as we go along, it's pretty easy ... read more
We are spending one night in Phuket (not by choice) then we are heading back to Ko Lanta to visit our friends at the Lanta pearl resot (it should be dirt cheap as it's low season) before heading north. The only good thing I have to say about Phuket is that the internet connection is great but there is no where to put a disk in this computer!!! So again no freakin pictures!!! Oh well we will have to do one massive blog when we get the chance...... read more
Back in Padangbai! Love this place.... good dives sites and great local friends. We have been diving again with our local friend Tuncas. We are leaving on the 6th for KL Malaysia and will figure things out from there. Hope to be able to post pictures again soon.... read more
White tips
So we got out of Kuta and ended up in Padang Bay. We fired the first dive company we started diving with (AquaMarine in Seminyak) as they were incompetent. I won't go into detail but I have reported them to PADI. We ended up diving with a local guy (Tuncas) who knew the area and gave us excellent rates ($50 2 dives a day). We always seem to end up at the local Raggae bar (and there is always a Raggae bar it seems) and we hung out and made good friends with some locals Kleiner, Komang (who owned Kinky Raggae bar) and Tuncas. We got Kleiner and Komang set up on email so we could stay in touch and helped out Kleiner by buying him some antibiotics for a lung infection he had for a ... read more
If you like Cancun Mexico you might like it here.... I for one do not like beach towns with booming bars and every merchant you pass grabbing you and trying anything they can to sell you something! Maybe 10-20 years ago this place would be fun but now...not so much. We have hooked up with a British/female run dive shop near by in Seminyak (AquaMarine Diving) and will be spending on night here in Seminyak before going diving tomorrow then moving east about 85K to Candi Dasa (laid back place with white sand beaches) we have arranged to make 8 dives over the next 7 days (2 a day with a day off in between) in more of the best dive sites in the world. We will be visiting a couple of wrecks including the USS ... read more
We are now in Chalong bay just south of Puket and once again, the internet is useless for uploading pictures.... This is a damn shame as I have sooo many excellent pictures to post! I will again keep the blog short as this feels like a huge waste of time without them. I went with all our Finn friends to "Job to do" (big ragge band in Thailand) while Sindy stayed at the hotel and got caught up on her TV watching (first satellite or TV we have had in a long time). The show was a blast but I left early as I was tired from diving earlier in the day. We counted wrong and over stayed our 30 no visa by two days, which is an offence here. OK we are spending a few more days in Koh Raya and moving on to the advanced open water deep sea diving course. We have become friends with all the Finns running the place and are now getting %15 discounts on our courses and dives which makes it easier to stay and get it done. I can't belive how many Finnish people are in Thailand....with a country of only 5 million I am gussing more than 1% of the population is here at any given time. I know that I am way behind on posting pictures...but wait until you see what we wil be posting! So far we have see Octopus, Leppord sharks, sea snakes, Angler(frog) fish, sting rays, Moray eels, Scorpion fish, Lion fish, and the list goes on! Damn I should have done this ... read more
