Angkor is one of the most important archaeological sites in South-East Asia. Stretching over some 400 sq. km, including forested area, Angkor Archaeological Park contains the magnificent remains of the different capitals of the Khmer Empire, from the 9th to the 15th century. These include the famous Temple of Angkor Wat and, at Angkor Thom, the Bayon Temple with its countless sculptural decorations. UNESCO has recognised Angkor as a World Heritage Site and the largest religious site in the world. [View Full Entry]

Phnom Phen City - the shrine in the middle of the city that has a clock face (thats works) on the garden
Hello Hello Im updating blogs at the moment but still about 4-5weeks behind - this one is from Cambodia. We stayed in Phnom Penn and Siam Reap for about 4days in each city. Cambodia was the first real shock to the system since we started our journey. The poverty is literally everywhere, the pavements have homeless mothers and their children just lying around, loads of victims of the landmines that was planted by the Khymer Rouge and loads an loads of street kids that try to sell you anything from books to DVDs. You want to give some of them money [View Full Entry]

The Lonley Planet guide commented that Vientiane could win the award for the most laid back capital city in the world and on this point I would be inclined to agree. Generally the food in the Capital is robust. Good French food is available for very reasonable prices. Another French Legacy is a monument in the centre of town which bears striking similarities to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. The capital is the only place in Laos which breaks the 12am curfew, so we obliged an decided to check out what nightlife the capital had to offer. It turned out [View Full Entry]

Vang Vieng is a travellers dream. A place where the beer is always flowing, the partys always happening and the hangover is gently nursed while watching series of Friends, Family Guy an Simpsons at every restaurant in town. Vang Vieng itself is surrounded by Karst scenery that is close to the best wev'e seen since we've been away. The weather is always stuck on 30 degrees. The river that flows along side the scenic mountain is full every day of backpackers and travellers alike tubing down the river in an inflated tractor tyre stopping at all the bars perched along the [View Full Entry]

Luang Prabang is a very beautiful city surrounded by green mountains and clay coloured waters. The whole city was listed as a world heritage site since 1995 by UNESCO. Consequently it gets a lot of tourists and you can see by the amount of guesthouses being built that those numbers will only increase over the years to come. Luang Prabang was our introduction to Laos and Lao People and it didn’t disappoint. Everyone’s pretty laid back, just going about their own business without paying too much attention to what that funny looking foreigners doing stood outside looking up and do [View Full Entry]

3 Day Jungle Trip

Asia » Thailand » North » Chiang Mai
It was 9am on Sunday morning and we left for our 3 day trek into the jungle. We didnt have a notion what we had signedup for, but decided we would try anyways for a laugh. We had a truck waiting for us outside our guesthouse, where we met the first of our fellow trekkers, Emma & Saskia from Rotterdam, Holland. A matter of about 10mins later we picked up the 5th member of our ever expanding group, Lisa from Canada. Then our last pickup was Aaran, Ray & Sarah from London. The 8 of us headed off into the unknown. [View Full Entry]
