Hi, well we stayed in queenstown for about a week. It is classed as a city but really it is a town at the edge of a lake and at the bottom of a mountain - looks very pretty at night. The whole town is pretty much dedicated to skiing and snowboarding as they have 3 mountains available to ski on around there. Katie and I went on a trip to Milford sounds which is a fiord (body of water carved out from where a glacier once was). It took 2 hours on the coach to get to Te Anau where we stopped for a break to grab a drink or some food, we popped into this little bird sanctuary which was a bit rubbish they only had 5 different types of bird and they ... read more

We moved on from Kaikoura and stopped at Christchurch to pick up our plane tickets home, then travelled over to the west coast of the island. We stayed in Franz Josef and did a half day walk of the Franz Josef glacier. It had snowed heavily the day before so everything was white! I was wearing so many clothes to keep warm, i had my pyjama bottoms under my thin trousers, and then water proof trousers over them. Ihad 2 tops, a hoody, and a rain jacket on. Plus 2 pairs of thick socks, boots, hat, and gloves on. From the carpark where the bus dropped us off it took just under an hour to walk to the base of the glacier, then we put our talons on our boots and headed up the glacier. ... read more

We have now made it to the South island, and have been here for about a week now. Before we left North Island we visited Mount Doom - that is the mountain that features in the film Lord of the Rings. Unfortunately when we went there was lots of cloud and we could only see the bottom half of the mountain. But the snow-topped mountain next to it was clearly visible and that is the one in the photo. We started walking right up to the mountain but we then had a down pour of rain so we turned back. We caught the ferry across to the south island which took 3 hours. We stayed the night in Blenheim but we didnt like the campsite much so we decided to move on the next day. ... read more

We have been trying to do a skydive the passed couple of days in Taupo, but it has been cancelled a few times because of the weather. But this morning the weather is gorgeous so we were able to do our SKYDIVE - WOW!!! It was amazing, it was me, katie, sarah, and 2 Irish guys all went up in the plane with our tandem instructor and also a camera man each who took a dvd and photos of us while we were jumping. My tandem instructor was Canadian and he was so nice - even though he kept joking about not harnessing me up correctly! The plane flew up for about 20 minutes to 15,000 feet and then the door opened and suddenly one of the Irish guys in front of me was gone, ... read more

Since my last blog this is what I have been up to... We went to Hot water beach - where there is a thermal stream underground so you hire a spade and dig your own hole until it fills with water and you get your own spa. Well we had a go at that but all our holes were cold! Everyone around us had steam coming out of their holes though, so in the end we pinched someones hot hole when they left. But then it rained so we went back to the van and found a campsite for the night. We then moved on to a place called Rotorua, it is a thermal town, and the campsite we stayed at was built over a thermal area so we had naturally spring heated hot tubs! ... read more

Oh my god i am in love with New Zealand already and i have only been here a week. Everyone talks about how nice it is over here but its still surprising how nice it is! And all the New Zealanders we have met so far have been REALLY friendly! Sorry if i repeat myself at all i really cant remember what i said, or where i was when i last emailed... We have been so busy because we have been doing something every day, if we arent driving then we are out seeing, or doing something. So far... We stayed in Auckland for 2 nights went to the skytower, with a glass floor (scary). Moved North to Tutukaka which was so remote it was a 45min drive to the nearest ATM, or a decent ... read more

We have been in Adelaide for over a week now, it is a quiet city. It has everything you need and more, it would probably be a great place to live but after being to Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne it seems like a quiet city. We are staying at 'My Place' hostel, its small but nice. We can walk into the city centre in about 10-15 minutes which is great. Me, James and Katie went to a shooting range, where we got to fire four weapons; .357 magnum revolver, .44 magnum revolver, 9mm semi-automatic pistol (glock), and a 45mm semi-automatic pistol (glock). It was really fun but I was shaking like a leaf, i dont know why but after a couple of shots my hands wouldnt stay still! I think it is the kick-back, and ... read more

We went to a Neighbours night at a pub just down the road from where we are staying. We had dinner then went into the bar where "Libby Kennedy" sang a few songs. Then they brought out some of the other Neighbours cast members including; Karl Kennedy, Madge Bishop, Dylan Timmons, and Sindi, oh and dont forget Bouncer the dog! The cast members came round to everyone and had photos taken - they are all pretty short apart from " Karl". Then Karl's band - The Waiting Room came on and performed some songs. Unfortunately we had already got through several bottles of wine and a couple of vodkas so i was very drunk and ended up leaving early and getting a taxi back. I still can not remember some of that night but i ... read more

We have been in Melbourne for almost a week now. We decided to pay a little extra this time and get an apartment instead of a hostel. That way we get our home comforts like a kitchen so we can cook all our meals and save money, and also have a washing machine, tv, dvd player, our own shower, and our own beds - its bliss! Our apartment is in St Kilda which is about 15 minutes out of the city centre on the tram, this is where most backpackers tend to stay. We have been down to St Kilda beach and along the pier, where we found some Italian guy in the water picking up the star fish and throwing them on the rocks - apparently he didnt like them very much. We sat ... read more

Well we finally made it to Sydney the place everyone thinks of when you mention Australia! It was a pretty amazing place, there was so much to see. We visited the Sydney harbour bridge and the opera house which are 2 of the most famous sights in Sydney. We also went up the Sydney tower which was good because you could see so much of Sydney, including Manly, the bridge, opera house, stadium everything. I bought a little Koala at the top of the tower and called him Karl he is my little mascot, he will sit in the campervan window when we go to New Zealand. We did a bus tour arround the city one day as well which was cool because it gave us some history of the place etc. Oh and they ... read more
