Freedom to pursue one's desire is one of the important values to me. With this in mind, the freedom to travel from place to place, to experience different cultures, to meet different poeple, to try different foods, to learn different history, and to explore different adventures are something that I would like to integrate in my life.

I am currently living in the United States and am working for a fortune 100 telecommunication company. My goal is to be able to take time off from work every several months to visit different places.

Since today's major attraction - Painted Desert and Petrified Forest - was at the west of Gallup, NM, I had to drive backward (to the west) for about 80 miles. Painted Desert and Petrified Forest were two national parks in one. Here you could see beautiful desert with colors so vibrant that you would not normally imagine for a desert. The colors ranged from pink, orange, purple, and red at the front park to black, gray, brown, and yellow at the back park. The petrified woods were from a forest dated back to the pre-dinosaurs age. The polished ones in the visitor center were beautiful. Those left in the wild were much rougher but carried with a lot of characters. There was also an Indian pueblo ruin site in the park. Ancient Indian lived here thoundsands ... read more

I woke up from the camp site and enjoyed the beautiful mountain morning with the sunrise. After a little bit more exploration, I realized that there was a natural arch just behind my camp site. The mountain was beautiful bathing under the morning sunlight. The tempreture warmed up quickly with the sun. I truely enjoyed the camping experience here at the Devils Garden's camp ground. No wonder it was usually fully booked from March to November. I was really glad that I could experience it. With a long drive planned today, I quickly packed everything and drove off. I enjoyed the final view of the arches and rocks on the way out of the park. My next stop was the four corners monument, where the four states (Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico) met. After three ... read more

Having had a hearty breakfast (sauage omelette with pancakes) at the Pancake Haus - next to the Ramada Motel that I stayed in last night, I headed my way to the Arches National Park. There were some hikings to do today, and I wanted to make sure I had enough energy. The last time when I was in Utah (years ago), we didn't make it to the Arches. I always wanted to see the famous arch that was on a lot of postcards and calendars. I found out last night from the local that the name of that famous arch was 'Delicate Arch'. It was the state symbol of Utah. There would be a 2 hours round trip hike to get to the Delicate Arch from the trail head. I was excited that I finally could ... read more

Today I went through the Globe to Show Low Scenic Drive with stop at Cibeque Creek for an unforgettable hike. The 2 miles hike along the bank of Cibeque creek was refreshing. I was totally absorbed by the beauty of the mountain, stream, rocks, and vegetations. It wasn't easy to get there. In fact, if not because of the National Geographic guide book, I wouldn't have known about this place. The 4 mile rugged and primitive dirt road along the salt river took 30 minutes each way for my Accord to get through at the average speed of 8 miles per hour. Once I reached the creek, and after I got rid of all the self-doubts, I emerged myself into the quiet and serene mountain and stream scenary. The mountain fully embraced me as part of ... read more
