Hi. I'm a student from Australia about to spend some time traipsing around Canada. I've traveled a lot in Australia and also other parts of the world. Favorite aspects of travel would be spending time in the bush, rock climbing, and meeting people from different cultures.

On Thursday I head off to Canada. A couple of friends are getting married up bush in Ontario then a group of us we head off for some hiking and canoing through one of the national parks. After that it's off down the Bruce Peninsula for some loitering in underwater caves and exploring limestone cliffs.

Hi there. Im back in Quebec City for the conference which started on Sunday. Quebec city has some wonderful buildings in the old section and lots of very French shops, cafes, cafes, cafes and cafes! The conference is a little disapopointing in terms of relevance of speakers but Ive met a few researchers that have been very helpful with info and interested in my work, which has been encouraging. I went to a talk yesterday with a japanese professor that mumbled pretty much unitelligbly, hunched over the lectern reading off his notes. Each of his slides had enough info for 10 slides and were also unintelligible. Most interesting - not! Kinda funny in a 'this would be hilarious if I hadnt travelled halfway round the world for it' sort of way!! Ive been metting some friendly ... read more

Hi there. Since leaving Mont Tremblant, which was a pretty quiet 3 day stop over I moved on to Quebec city for the night. What a great old quarter! Somewhat touristy but lots of fun. Some of the buidlings at night are quite beautiful. By the way, if you are looking for the canoe trip link, here it is again. http://picasaweb.google.com/mcintyre.bl/Canoeing1214Aug2007?authkey=8PXFV-o__WY The hostel I stayed at in Quebec was pretty ordinary and came complete with a very drunk Swede in his bed in my dorm room (at 3pm!). He was a pleasant enough drunk but decided to go out at midnight, stumble back into the room at 4 am with the light blazing, crash into 2 beds whilst attempting to get changed and then started snoring loud enough to shame a chainsaw after some heroically loud ... read more

There would have been pics if the rather silly set up on this computer hadn't blocked the downloading! But as mentioned if you follow the link I sent yesterday or search for me on facebook you'll find lots of pics. Cheers Andrew.... read more

Hi All I'm currently at Mont Tremblent north of Montreal and speaking very bad French which is fun. The place I'm staying at is on a beautiful lake - very chilled out and relaxing. I've included a link below for pics of the canoe trip. The last day of our trip in Ontario was spent on the Bruce Peninsula at a wonderful lake area bordered by climbable cliffs (yay). there are a few pics of Marty and I being rock monkeys. The water was crystal clear and despite a reasonable wave surge, ok to fall off the cliffs into and swim to shore. Big lakes they have here! This one looked more like an Australian ocean minus all the nice critters than can kill you in oz. But hey - they do have bears here that ... read more

It's been a pretty interesting week. Having arrived in LA on route to Toronto my luggage was deemed worthy of leaving in Melbourne whilst I blissfully sailed through the skies in an airconditioned tin can. But Ill save that story for later. I headed up to northern Ontario with the parents of my Canadian friends who were getting married on a fab promintory of land surrounded by a forest fringed lake. The bride rowed into shore with her Dad, much toi the surprise of the wedding party and guests. It was hot, but a lovely wedding. The next day four of us (the bride, groom afriend and I had planned to get away by 9am to embark on an intrepid 4 day canoe and hiking trip. By 2pm we had managed to get in the cars ... read more
