Spent the day getting back to Quito. Drove by the great volcano Chimborazo. Takes lots of time winding thru the Andes. Also stopped by a place just outside of Ambato and and tried some Quey. Finally got to the equator monument and spent money in the shops. Jose will pick us up at 4am to get us to the airport. Short night for a long Wednesday, but when its over we ll be home. Monday was our last day in Guaranda, though part of it was spent away from there. Traveled to Salina to investigate their wool industry, a chocolate factory, soccer ball manufacturer, and mushroom thing. At lunch we wre told the resturant had fried fish. We asked what was on the menu and were told fried fish. Guess what we had for lunch! In the afternoon we spoke on a radio program and planted seeds throughout the Guaranda area. OUr evening engagement was cancelled so we dined with Hermes and his wife at a pizza place that he recommended. Following our meal a lady who worked there had a life changing experience! Tuesday is primarily a travel day - back to Quito and hopefully the equator museum. Flying home Wednesday. Ready or not its time to exodus the ... read more

Note: Lucy is making the entries today! Started out this morning with Guayaba juice. Very nice, like pear. We enjoyed worshipping the Lord with our brothers and sisters this morning. One couple that had a life changing experience just yesterday, was in church worshipping with us this morning! God is so good! I like singing the praise songs in their language---as long as the words are on the screen! Yesterday I didnt have the words to look at so I thought we were singing about bears and spouses. It made alot more sense when I could read the words! My spanish is not so good.! They prepared a wonderful lunch for us. This afternoon we rested a little and then played some basketball and volleyball with the people here (who are now our very good friends!) ... read more

Saturday was spent in and around the park. Invitations were distributed up and sometimes down the streets (seems as everything is up hill both ways). Another block party in a park with 80 to 100 childrne and adults attending. Around 30 children expressed interest in changing their lives forever. Spent the early afternoon in the market. The sights and sounds...and especially the smells are a definite experience. Fresh or semi fresh everything is for sale. The afternoon was spent with a group of youth. We did Central Park with Barney again. Several adults and numerous children expressed need to have their lives changed. Gotta go.... read more

Another big day doing what we do. We spent the morning passing out invitations to our gathering in the Las Colinas community of Guaranda. During that process one lady had a life changing experience...just passing out invitations. It did seem all the roads we walked were up hill both ways. Many of the homes had fruit trees in the yards...lemon, orange, fig, and tomato...that´s right tomato trees. Lots of flowers too. We enjoyed a noontime tour of Las Cochas, a resort area and had some corn and cheese for a snack. Following lunch it was back to Las Colinas for fun, games and gospel. There were around 30 commitments that were public. We gave a Bible to the policia who watched over our event. dinner was on the streets...meat on a stick. And there was this ... read more

What a big Thursday in Guaranda! Breakfast was a bit of a challenge since our eating place that opened supposedly at 7am did not unlock the doors until 7:15 and the cooks arrived around 7:30. We started our work by speaking in 3 classes in a school where Hermes is an instructor. We added 25 students and one instructor to our big family as the result of our time in class! Then we were off to go thru the Marcopamba neighborhood handing out invitations to a block party for kids. Then off to a couple of scenic views of the city and a brief museum tour. A late lunch of chicken reenergized the group for a high energy block party in the brilliant Ecuadorian sun. We played games, had a puppet show, and told the story. ... read more

Well, we had a good day of traveling. Had lunch in Ambato in the Mall of the Andes overlooking the city and the mountains. They had a Wii set up in the food court. There were 2 large monitor on a small elevated tennis court where kids were playing Wii tennis. There games were displayed on a panel of 9 large monitors. No one from our group would play - the fear of being embarassed by small children kept us in front of our food. The countryside is wonderful to drive thru and the snow capped volcanos did not disappoint in displaying their splendor. We showed the Fireproof movie tonight in a public auditorium with about 40 Ecuadorians in attendance. We also proided Love Dare books to each household. It was great as always to see ... read more
