OK I'm really sorry for adding another blog so quickly however I have actually done something today and since most of the time my blogs are going to be pretty boring as they will involve skiing, skiing and a bit more skiing. So after my blog last night a load of the group decided that a house party was in order I opted out and judging by the state of them this morning it was probably a good choice. We headed out first thing to a shopping mall and sorted out our Canadian mobiles ironically it was $49 for a mobile and pay as you go sim and you got $20 worth of credit or $40 for the sim only. Anyway it is now set up so if you text my uk mobile you will get ... read more

I eventually arrived safe and well it just took me 37 hours door to door!!! I was able to get my flight out the next morning with no problem. I was met in the airport by Guy the course co-ordinator and he took me off to the resort and my temporary home for the night. Basically we had temporarily been put up in a chalet until our home for the next 10 weeks was ready today. I have to say that as we drove to the resort we turned a corner and the resort came fully into view and Guy just looked at me and a big beam appeared on my face. So we dropped my case off and I emptied my ski bag of all items except my skis i.e two skis jackets, two salopettes ... read more

Well my trip hasn't started off as planned. After the New Year I found that my left knee was twinging with pain and whilst I knew it was nothing serious I had to get it checked out - 10 weeks skiing planned and all that. A planned check up at the dentist and a stop at the walk-in centre had me an all clear on both accounts subject to dosing myself up on anti-inflammatory for the knee. Lunch was courtesy of H and Jessica was very concerned that my knee was ok and would get better. I also got told I was going on a big holiday! The final goodbyes were said with a non-plussed kiss from 3 month old Jacob and a big squeeze and sloppy kiss from Jessica. On Tuesday morning I woke up ... read more

Am I excited???? Not sure is the honest answer. I still don't think that it has actually hit home yet that I am actually doing this and not just thinking or talking about it. Yes I hold my P45 following my last day at work last week and earlier today I sold my car (after a long time of panicking that I would have "give it away" to a garage Autotrader pulled through for me) but even still my mind isn't quite in the mindset that this time next week I will be packed and ready to head to the airport at stupid o'clock with a large and undoubtedly heavy suitcase and ski bag (with a single set of skis and ski clothes packed away in it) in tow. I have started on the seemingly never ... read more

Well its official I am now technically homeless although I do have a roof over my head. It is 35 days till I jet out of this country for Canada and I only have 14 days of work left after today I am just left sat wondering when it is feasible to start counting down the hours before I leave =;0) I have had a productive few weeks and have been able to lay down a few more definite plans for my venture. Sharon came to visit and we were able to plan the part of the journey we will do together. I have now booked my round the world flight and following my 5 weeks back in the UK I leave Manchester on the 4th May 2009 (subject to BA not canceling any more flights ... read more

Well this is it I have made the decision to walk away from my job of 4 years and am embarking on a journey and a trip of a lifetime. I have often wondered about my choice to go straight through from A Levels to uni to work. Whilst I have never regreted the path I have taken I have wondered whether I should have taken a year or two out and done more with my love of outward bound activities before settling down. Luckily for the past 8 years I have been able to juggle my holidays around so that I have been able to do a lot of what I enjoy. If you had ever asked me before I would always have shaken my head and said I had no desire to take a ... read more
