Even though I currently live in the United States, I was born in Germany. I went to an English speaking International School (Frankfurt International School, Oberursal Campus) where I was surrounded by many people of different backgrounds, cultures and languages. Travel has been a big part of my life, and I think it is time to document the places I visit.
I am going to go on a trip to Japan, farthest from home ever, so I thought I would start here.

There we went into some really cool back alley shops. There was a place for companies, like restaurants and such, to buy the various signs you see around like "No Smoking" etc. I got a little sign that says "Push" for my room. We then went to a place called Namba Parks, which is really just a collection of semi small malls and stores. I wasnt allowed to take many pictures, so I didnt, but we did go into a special Toys R Us Store. on a side note, I have to say this: In all the stores with toy departments, they ... read more

So yeah, I havent written anything just because I was lazy. I did do a fair amount of stuff though. Day Ten- A Day of Rest The Day I came back from Japan we rested. We didnt do anything. For almost the entire day we just sat around. I went to the super market with Mrs. Tanaka, but other than that I did nothing. There are some cool pictures I took, though. The shopping "carts" are just basket holders with wheels (see picture). Well, actually, there is one more thing. It was Chihiro's birthday, so I gave him the redsox tshirt. HE liked it a lot. Day Eleven- Yodobashi Camera So we were bored in the house yesterday, so we went into Osaka City. In the subway we stopped by this Bread place, a Pan ... read more

Day One- Arrival So I woke up and we hung around for a while. And then at around ten we went to the station. With a heavy backpack full of clothes etc, we got on a couple of trains, taking about two hours to get to Kyoto. From the train stop we got on a bus. I was suprised to see quite a few foreigners on the train. Kie explained to me that a lot of foreign people come to Kyoto. It was really weird. Day six is kind of a blur in my head right now. Probably becasue I am so tired. Anyways, Today I think I just hung around the house for a while. Then we went to this old part of Tondabayashi where they had a lot of old houses and everything was very traditional. We went into one old house that was two hundred years old! It was really cool. We went to aunts house and i spoke english with kies aunt. I then went upstairs and hung out with kie and her cousin for a while. They asked me how old her cousin was, and I said she seemed 17, she was 26. Japanese people seem so young. She has so much manga its amazing. Probably about five hundred books. She had a guitar, too. ... read more

Aww man, I forgot to write about the past two days! Its a good thing I didnt do much, or take a lot of pictures. Day Four- So day four I found out a Typhoon was coming to Osaka. Ive never seen a typhoon in my life, so I am kind of excited/ freaked out! It was all over the news and public broadcast messages were made fairly often. It is supposed to hit the fifteenth. I sat around, didnt do much, and then I found out we were going to play tennis with Kie's grandmother. We drove in the rain (as always) to her apartment, and out comes this little ball of energy waving her hands, talking a milion miles an hour, etc. And i find out it is the grandmother! She was really ... read more

I went downstairs and I got some breakfast, Mrs. Tanaka makes really good food! (Eggs, Sausage, raisin bread, peach, amazingness...) I just vegged for the rest of the morning, and then the day got interesting. We first went into Osaka-shi (Osaka City) to go see Osaka-jou (Osaka Castle). There I tried for first ever Mos Burger. Mos Burger is a restaurant chain in Japan that makes incredibly good burgers. Americans ain't got nothin' on these! That was great. Afterwards, we went to Osaka Jou park. It has a really interesting history: Osaka Jou was fist built in the 1500s by Toyotomi Hideyoshi. It was supposed to show the strength of Osaka. As Osaka got in... read more

I went to sleep at around 11 last night, and woke up at five thirty this morning. I stayed in bed until six thirty, and then I had to get up. I got up at around the same time Mrs. Tanaka got up. I read some, and tried incredibly hard to understand what she was saying to me when we spoke. She asked me if I wanted was not hungry, so I said no thanks, probably in an hour. An hour later, exactly, she makes me breakfast. I am so lucky I live in a house with an amazing cook! Breakfast was a couple of garden grown tomatoes, two eggs, three sausages (tasted like ones from Germany) and some lettuce. As we talked over breakfast, I had a hard time understanding and kept on saying that ... read more

So today was full of suprises. I an typing on a Japanese computer, so it is really difficult to type well. I have had to restart this about five times now. My first flight from Boston to Detroit was fine. I got on with no problems. When I arrived at the Detroit airport I was in for a few suprises. First, the signs are not only in English and Spanish, but also in Japanese. I thought that was cool. I had about a three hour layover so I decided to get something to eat. I called up some people, talked to them about what I should eat, and decided to go with Sushi. There is this really good Sushiya in the airport. After that, I waited for the flight. Thirteen hours on a plane is way shorter than it seems! Looking back, I thought I should have been ... read more
