Fountain in Fitzroy
Fountain in Fitzroy
I just thought this was a cool fountain and had to take a picture.
It’s really sunny! Walk around the CBD Yum Cha is yummy! I took advantage of the “free” breakfast provided by the hostel this morning. Basically free toast and a cuppa tea or coffee. Geesh. I really miss my honey on peanut butter toast. But I guess beggars can’t be choosers, right? It’s weird, breakfast is only served between the hours of 8 and 9AM. Anyhoo, Di and I sat around shooting the breeze a bit and then used our free 10 minute token for the internet. Since the weather was super nice we took advantage of the sun and did a [View Full Entry]

View of the 12 Apostles
View of the 12 Apostles
Okay, so you can't see all 12 of them. This was taken at "sunrise" but from the cloud cover you can't really tell.
Winds. Waves. Gibson's Steps. Singing old songs on the bus. Onward to Melbourne. We had one of those slow moving mornings. We eventually made it over to the 12 Apostles again to see if we could see them with a bit of sun on them...nope. We were outta luck. So we drove over to the Gibson's Steps and took a walk down to the beach and witnessed some awesome waves, saw lots of cuttlefish and driftwood and picked up a lot of debris that was strewn all over the beach. There were some people on our tour that wanted to take [View Full Entry]

That
Otway Treetop Walk
Peek-a-boo!

On the way up to the Pinnacle.
On the way up to the Pinnacle.
A little bit of a challenge because the rocks were a bit slippery but not too tough considering I made it up there!
Bloody, pelting rains! Wet, soggy and miserable. Makes hiking less fun. I woke up at 5AM...1.5 hours ahead of our wake up call. I think it was because the room was so bloody hot! It could also be because I was in bed by 10:30. :) I eventually popped outta bed...getting pretty good at getting down from the top bunk now without injuring myself. I washed up, packed up and had my usual breakfast of rice bubbles (rice krispies for you North Americans) and cornflakes and then my two pieces of peanut butter and honey toast. Yum! We set off from [View Full Entry]

On top of the Pinnacles.
The Grotto
London Bridge

Dozing on the bus Three days, two nights to Melbourne See lots in between. I didn't have the best sleep last night. My roommate Anita started to snore pretty loudly around 3AM. Of course Monica has a very low tolerance for snoring and says..."Laura, you're snoring." Monica assumed it was Laura that was snoring because the night before Laura said she's getting over a cold and may snore and to just wake her up if she does. Well, Laura wakes up and says "What?" Meanwhile the snoring is still going on so it means Anita is the snorer and I can't [View Full Entry]

Fountain in Adelaide.
Fountain in Adelaide.
Just realized that I only took two photos while in Adelaide!
Cold, windy and wet. Walking around Adelaide. Cut short. Raining hard. I woke up at 6:45 and couldn't sleep anymore. I guess I'm getting used to all of these early morning wake up calls of the last couple of weeks. I lay in bed ‘til about 8AM waiting for Coles to open up so that I could get some food for breakfast. My roommate Laura also got up and we went over there together. We bumped in to Di on the way there. Laura and I met up with Di and Anna and attempted the walking tour of Adelaide that was [View Full Entry]

Room with a view.
Room with a view.
Taken at the ruins.
Intense red sunrise. Hawker, Quorn & Adelaide. Bye to the Flinders. Another nice sleep in since it was another 8AM departure. Gotta love a good lie-in! Once on the road we did more emu spotting. Our morning stop was at the Klinyara Ruins which is a former settlement from "back in the day." To be honest I wasn't really listening to what Tanya was telling us about this sight... Since we will be arriving in Adelaide tonight and this is our last lunch together we all had left overs for lunch. I opted not to have a sandwich and helped myself [View Full Entry]

Parachilna.
Parachilna.
This is where one of the scenes from the movie Rabbit Proof Fence was filmed. I recommend watching this film if you haven't already.
Climbing Mt. Ohlssen. Cardio system tested. Big trek up and down. Wow! We got to sleep in ‘til 7 this morning since our departure time was set for 8AM. This morning’s task was to trek up Mt. Ohlssen of the Flinders Ranges. It was a bit of a steep trek up but worth it once we made it to the top. We encountered a couple of poisonous snakes in the bush and upon closer inspection there was also an echidna in the bush as well. Stupid Mr. Sleep-in decided to throw a rock at the snakes so we had to hightail [View Full Entry]

Let's play some hangman Long day on the road again Will help pass the time. Apparently the girls next to us in the underground room were very noisy when they got back last night. There was only a thin wooden wall separating our rooms and Mandy couldn't take it anymore and asked them to be quiet 3 times. I was so "dead to the world" that I didn't hear any of it and didn't hear about the incident until we all woke up this morning! lol 6:30 take off. I witnessed yet another amazing sunrise. Not the most spectacular but always [View Full Entry]

The rains woke us up. Goodbye Amanda. Hi Tanya. Kangaroo spotting. I can't believe it started pouring rain at 3:30 in the morning. When it first started I thought I'd just pull the swag cover over my head and ignore the rain. But after only a minute it was pretty apparent that the rains were not going to let up. In fact the winds picked up as well. Some of us dragged our swags into the kitchen area while some others dragged their swags over to some of the empty tents. I decided against the tents since they were not checked [View Full Entry]

Sunrise at Uluru.
Sunrise at Uluru.
Not the most spectacular but still pretty amazing.
Uluru Sunrise Not the most spectacular But took lots of pics! Our first activity of the day after breakfast today is to go see the sunrise by Uluru. Sunrise is at 7:23AM but we get there with plenty of time to spare. It is a crazy madhouse up at the sunrise viewing area...so many bus loads of tourists...who told them about this? haha Uluru, it is 9.4km around. 3.4 km climb up. 2.4km width. 7 km deep. How heavy is Uluru? One stone. HAHA I thought that was a good joke. We were given three options for this morning. 1) “The [View Full Entry]
