Welcome back
Sounds like a great visit

I've enjoyed traveling with you...
my grandfather was also Canadian...and a snow bird. After he retired at the age of 65, for the next 30 winters he drove with my grandmother to Bradenton, Florida. My aunts finally had to put a stop to that as his driving was dangerous to him and others. May we all live to enjoy warm winters for that long!

Benidorm of Mexico
Omigosh! Are we the only people you know who have actually been in Benidorm?? We have friends who live in Alfaz del Pie and we took a bus from Valencia which landed in Benidorm. From there we drove to Alfaz. But the Miami area image is quite clear. Disappointing that Puerto Vallarta is the Mexican Benidorm. Carol and Martin

Cuyutlan
You cannot imagine how lovely all this sounds to us. We have a foot of snow in our backyard and the Polar Vortex is about to attack us again tomorrow. Wish we were there. I'd say "wish you were here" but I'm not that mean! Abrazos…C.

From Barra de Navidad
Leaving here tomorrow by bus back to PV, may go to Sayulita. Have really enjoyed Barra. As my friend suggested, it seems to be small town like PV was 30 years ago. You can fly from Manzanillo airport which they tell me is half way between Barra & Manzanillo. 2 women fro CA come here every year for a couple of weeks & they fly by Alaska Air (an airline I love).

Manzanilla
I'm looking forward to hearing about your visit to Manzanilla. Years ago (about 1996 or so) my parents rented a villa there for part of the winter. I was terrified at the thought of my father driving down there from Tennessee in his '80's so I met them in San Antonio, drove their car down, then stayed a week to help them settle in. Then I flew back to Chicago to work. I thought Manzanilla was exceedingly boring. Perhaps it's livened up by now. I hope so for your sake. It's a fishing village, other than some large new resorts (we stayed in one) there was no place to go. Few restaurants, nothing historical. Well, have fun!

Enjoying your blogs
Enjoying your blogs--I first visited Lake Chapala in 1952 with my parents--imagine that! I just returned from a textile study trip to Ghana. I made some fabulous batik cloth and also some terrific beads from recycled glass. Love hands on experiences. Sally (friend of the McClains from Merida)

Main Plaza
Glad you got to see the Orozco murals. The weird sculptures/chairs that used to be in the area outside the museum don't appear in your photos….maybe they're gone. I like your apartment. Which neighborhood is it in? Carol

State of war?
I absolutely loved hearing about your trip so far but the lady you were talking to in the immigration line kind of scared me. Your house is beautiful and the food sounds delicious and I'll now start my prayers for your safe return. Thanks for sharing your trip with us and take care dear friend.

Mystery fruit...
Hi Lynn ! Well you sure timed your trip well. It is FREEZING here. Very cold for the Football parade today. I think your mystery fruit is guava. Be easier to tell once you open it. Have a great trip! Looking forward to lots of pictures. Well wishes, Michèle and Errol and Zeus (the puppy)

Guadalajara and Environs
We spent a very enjoyable Winter in Guadalajara in 1997. Lake Chapala was quite low at that time….will be interested in your observations. Manzanillo, a beach town near Colima was highly recommended to us, but we never made it there. Best, Carol and Martin

Guadalajara
So far it is so pleasant....a tropical garden here at the house we've rented for a few days...church bells and birdsong...warm scented breezes! But we spoke with an American woman who has lived here for many years and she seemed to hate it...! We'll be hitting the streets soon to find more out....
