What a blast - From: Obama!
Just browsing through the blogs thinking back on our trip to Kenya and Tanzania 3 years ago. Keep on the great blogging I still have to finish mine and believe it or not the memory does start to fade so keep journaling. Even about the smells, and textures of the country side. You are going to have a trip of a lifetime. Ngorongoro Crater is spectacular hope you get there. Have fun.

- From: Leaving on Safari!
Hi Your blog looks great with all the photos. WE had a wonderful time and really did R&R in Maine. Took Calvin out for dinner one noontime -- the only free time he had. Sat. he had a field trip. Just head that Joanne Zrenda's husband is a good candidate for the lung surgery (mesophelioma) and is scheduled for 11/12 in Boston. How is Bill doing all by himself? I am sure your safari will be a long remembered experience. Take care. Love, Mom and Ned

fun to see the library - From: Kenya is so rangi ya majani (green)
Hi Lynn, What fun to see the pictures of you and Vicki. Your apartment building looks very substantial. You are pitching right in as I know you would do. This is a great adventure for you at the beginning of retirement. We just returned from Bhutan, which we found most interesting. The comforts kind of fell away bit by bit. We got used to showering in a bucket with a faucet and measuring cup. I loved being in a Buddhist country where the spirit of the religion pervades everyone, even the animals! Anyway, I look forward to hearing more about your African adventures. Love, Jill

Jambo! - From: Kenya is so rangi ya majani (green)
Hi Lynn, I can't believe you're in Nyeri. My family lived there for a year, when I was in the 6th Standard (Grade). Are you at the public boarding school just outside of town? Are there any archival photos there? My Teacher was Mr McCarten(sic) and the principal was Mr. Langley, I believe. During certain times of the year we called Nyeri, "Dreary Nyeri" because of the weather. Have you been to the Outland Hotel? We used to go there for movies sometimes on the weekend. I'm so glad you've gotten some clear views of Mt. Kenya. It only happens at certain times of the year, or at least it used to be that way. We all miss you very much. Pray for Summit. Love and peace, Paul

Amazing Quetzal - From: The Elusive Quetzal!
Wow - you saw a Quetzal - how cool is that. It's got the rep of being the most beautiful bird in the world! It's a sacred symbol to the Mayans and was threatened by extinction not long ago. Not sure what the status is now but it must be good news if you saw 3 of them ~ unless that's all there is! Your photos are great Lynn - am loving your journal. It must be surreal that this is coming to an end. But we'll be glad to have you both back home. Happy Trails, Love, Carolyn

I meet those kids too!! - From: Running out of gas on Lago Izabal
I met those kids too. When I was in the farm, I played with those kids all day. Their were crying when we had to leave. I plan going back soon (hopeful) and next year I am taking Spanish as an elective next year, so I am going to push myself until I learn it. We had so much fun on the last day we had a carnival and we taught how to make s’mores. We help them swim in a warm waterfall (cold water) and we played on a HUGE swing for hours. It was so much fun. I hope you had so much fun as I did. Good wishes, Ella P.S. When are coming back to school!?

Easter over and free as a bird - From: Beautiful Granada!
when your in a shaded area use your flash so your face will show in photo;Patricia our Easter vacation is over now . We made it as far as Baltimore for a day .trip. had friends from France here for vacation. That was fun; we laughed alot; Over the vacation I also quit my job. It was good pay but my soul is not for sale to a snappy mouth fake person. I do not go for that; any way I'm very happy. The next day the husband was begging for forgiveness for his wife; that right there sets down the points another 2 marks for not covering her own mistakes; i think I'll do some traveling my self now. I'm still thinking of that Costa Rico tour. take care and have fun Bisou Patricia

In God We Trust... - From: Running out of gas on Lago Izabal
Behind that kind man rowing you to sure, does it actually say "In God We Trust" on the boat bow? That quote must have been first said before the discovery of gasoline... so glad you survived... another memory maker! That waterfall looks like heaven! Will you ever return? Love, SC

They say it's not really an adventure unless, while it's happening, you wish only that you were at home in your own bed. I'm really enjoying following your travels. And not at all surprised that you were adopted by a cat.
