Ohhhhhhhhhhh Holland! Such a beautiful, wonderful country! The three cities I visited were all unique but I have to say that Amsterdam is my favourite. It is such a fabulous city. I know there are very trouristy aspects of it, but it also has a romance and beauty about it. The little canals, house boats, stunning architecture, bikes bikes bikes... it's just buzzing! I was so lucky with the weather while I was there. It felt like Summer! And sunshine is a guarenteed way to make you feel happy and alive! Iris (a gorgeous gal who I met in Montezuma, Costa Rica) met me at the airport Tuesday night and we set out to wander the streets of Amsterdam by night. The biggest eye opener for me was the famous 'Red Light District', it really shocked ... read more

A few people told me that you only really visit Helsinki if you know people there. I don't know why they say this, I found it to be a beautiful city! Especially as it was still covered in snow, I feel it adds beauty and romance to it :) I love that they have trams (much like the green and yellow Melbourne trams), you can walk everywhere, there aren't herds of people getting in your way and they have the best lollies/sweets/candy EVER!! Monja and Linn (and Monja's lil bro who picked us up) met me at the airport around 8pm (when I had told them I was flying in at 6pm, whoops! luckily they checked the times, and didn't wait around all that time) and we headed to Monja's cosy lil flat right near the ... read more

Snow, snow and more snow!! We enjoyed the beautiful thick whiteness covering the roads and pavements for a couple of days this week. Sunday night it bucketed down snow! It was oh so pretty! Monday morning at 1am, the snow was so thick and fluffy. My flatemates and I decided it was time for a snowball fight. Chantelle and I didn't last too long, however Luis and Nicolas spent about 2hours running a muck and snowballing neighbours and our bedroom windows! Monday I stayed in bed as schools were closed due to the coverage and the disturbance to the public transport system. It was nice to be snug as a bug in a rug... though when schools were closed on Tuesday I began to worry. Days off are fun until it's pay day :( It was ... read more

My flatmates, Martina, Chantelle, and I had a gals night out at one of London's popular members only nightclubs... JALOUSE! We were invited by a friend who knows the ins n outs of London's club life. Clubs have never really been my scene but when you are offered a night out all expenses paid, plus a ride there and back, you can't really say "no!" Martina dolled me up and we had a couple of glasses of wine whilst waiting for our ride. Kelly rocked up at 12:30am (about half an hour late which Martina wasn't happy about). When I stepped outside and saw a dark green Jaguar in front of our house I was gobsmacked, "Arhhhh Martina is that our ride, OH YEAH"... Though it was a tight squeeze I definitely enjoyed our ride in ... read more

Oh what a night... So I found out a wk before Thurs 22nd Jan that Ugly Duckling were dropping into London. I was super pumped as it had been yrs since I last saw them (with Lains @ Revolver, Melb). I read about the venue, Scala, which sounded wicked. Only problem was I didn't really know anyone here into hip hop, well apart from my friend Mark, who was umming and ahhhring about it. He ended up saying he'd come, so I bought two tix. On Thurs night about an hour b4 I was leaving to meet him, he called to say he had to bail. I was kinda shattered, and started calling around to recruit people. But no luck. Well I wasn't missing it so off I went on my own. It's really not the ... read more

I visited Ireland for a very special occassion. The wedding day of two of my closest friends Naomi and John! We had an absolute blast in this luscious green country of lepricorns and four leaf clovers... oh and not to forget GUINNESS!! :) We were staying in the heart of Dublin, such a pretty city, and so easy to get around. We really enjoyed being able to walk everywhere and see everything and not have to worry about being tucked away underground on the tube and minding any gaps :) Na and I had decided to spend our first day in Ireland together, just the two of us. We had a fun gals day/night enjoying each others company, food, wine and laughing lots! Standard!! We discovered a lil Spanish bar/restaurant that we instantly fell in love ... read more

The heading of this page hightlights a couple of the first things I head when I arrived in London. I jumped on the tube from Heathrow Airport to meet Louise and Alex in Hammersmith. The female voice over on the tube said... "This is a Piccadilly line train stopping all stations to Cockfosters..." being human, I giggled to myself. What a funny name for a suburb! Gold!! Then at every station "Please mind the gap..." Now it's just a part of daily life, though I must admit I still tend to giggle to myself when I catch the Piccadilly Line :) One of my first nights out in London was in east London (can't remember exactly where) in a warehouse to celebrate Halloween. My friend Jo, a super fun/crazy gal I went to uni with, and ... read more

After 14 months travelling and living in Latin America I was ready to head home, catch up with my wonderful family and friends and lay low for the next 6wks whilst organising my work visa for the UK. Well I didn't exaclty lay low, I don't think I actually had a day to myself. Though I am not complaing. I LOVED catching up with everyone! My first day back in Melb, my bro, Tim, picked my up from the airport and we headed straight down the coast to Fairhaven, AKA Fairys! It was a relaxing wkend of drinking and eating... standard! I was pretty tired and not up for too much after my long flight home. It was so nice to be down the coast, I thought about Fairys a lot when I was away. It's ... read more

After an amazing couple of months travelling in Nicaragua and Guatemala I headed back to Costa Rica once more before it was time to head home to Oz! Jerry and I had such a fun few weeks. We met in San Jose and headed to Monteverde to meet his best friend Benji, who is studying there. Monteverde is a beautiful, touristy area in the mountains, where there are stunning cloud forrests, canopy tours, wildlife and much cooler climate than that of the coastal parts of Costa Rica. Jerry and I didn't partake in any of the tourist activities, but we had fun discovering the town with Benji and enjoying time together, just the three of us! Benji is such a genuine, fun-loving, confident, full of life, happy guy, so it was nice to spend some time ... read more
