Lucky! You were lucky to have so much time to spend in Australia since it is such an incredibly vast country with so much to see. That's an interesting story about the horse Norseman finding gold. I also like your photos of the Aboriginal rock art.
Then and now Then I had plenty of time but I was on s very tight budget. Today we have s larger budget, but have much less time instead. Thanks for reading and commenting on the blog. ) Ake
Past Memories I enjoyed reading about your memories and seeing your photos of your trip to Australia. I have never been to Melbourne or Tasmania so that was interesting to see sites from there -- the Twelve Apostles and the Great Ocean Road would have been among my favorites.
My first major journey This was my first major journey anywhere really. I was superexited about everything and came home overwhelmed by what I had seen and done. I'd love to go back and see things with a new perspective. And it would be nice to have my own set of wheels as well to be able to get around easier. And it would be nice to go there with a plan and do some research before instead of just jumping into everything as it comes. /Ake
Early travels Some day I intend to do what you are doing and blog about past travels. Perspective and style changes. Thanks for sharing this trip with us.
I wish I had better photos I am not proud of my photos from those days. But it is really good fun digging out the old journals and pictures because it brings back quite a few memories. /Ake
Indonesia I just caught up on your latest blogs Ake - very enjoyable reading :) I've been a various places on a couple of islands, but as you mentioned, I would love to return too. It would be fabulous to explore each island in full, but we would need the luxury of time for that!
Time is the problem here as well It is the same thing for us, we want to travel more but we don't have the time. But I guess that is not entirely a bad thing. That way I guess at least I enjoy my travels more than I would if I had all the time in the world. /Ake
I spent a lot of time in shops I spent quite some time shopping for handicraft when I was in Ubud. I bought more than I would normally be allowed to bring on the plane. I am happy that I didn't have to pay for overweight. /Ake
We are Emma Holmbro and Ake Dahllof. We live in Stockholm, Sweden.
We have travelled more or less regularly since the mid 1990-ies and it seems like the more we travel the more difficult it is to decide where to go next. Not because we are running out of places to visit but because we find more places we want to go to faster than we manage to travel to them.
Some of the things from our travel bucket list we have ticked off since we started this blog in 2006 are
