I'm 25/f. I just left the US Air Force to finish my education and I'm taking a trip to Brazil before I start school in May. I love to travel whether with a group or alone.

OK, so I know I really haven’t blogged as much as I normally do….well with my computer crashed, I’m using Kassie’s but I am trying my best not to hog her fancy-shmancy alienware laptop.  Right now, we are on our train to Warsaw. This is almost the end of the road. We’ll be flying home in about 2 days.  ya know, I seem to fall in love with every place I travel to but I really have to say, as far as European Cities go, Krakow has been the best for me thus far. Granted I have only been to a few. I really just felt so comfortable there. Much like Rio, actually. I do wish I could understand more Polish though. At least in Brazil and other countries I’ve been to, I can ... read more

I really don't think there's much to say about it....I can't even explain...I may be able to later when it hits me that I went there and saw 2000 tons of human hair just sitting in a room...and luggage and shoes....40,000 pairs of shoes! all of victims. yea. I'm attaching a few pix. though. I also tried absinthe. OWWWWWW. I couldn't even do one full SHOT. I took one gulp and YOWZA! My head hurts. Which is also the reason for the wee little blog. Tomorrow though, I promise when we get to the hotel I'll have a much better and more entertaining blog :) Damn absinthe. damn it to hell. I after the trip to Auschwitz though, we had a decent dinner at our hotel, then set off to wander Krakow. THis really is a ... read more

I do have to report that Gabe reminded me I almost burnt down his house! I forgot to plug my CHI (very expensive) flat iron into the converter before plugging it in....AND IT MELTED. oooh the smell. Melted plastic on ceramic in a bathroom. YIKES! I did bad. very, very bad.... :( anyway...yea.... read more

Well the time in PRague was great, but with the hotel 'mishap' and computer issues (as of yet unresolved...) I really started to doubt the trip. :( Things didn't go as planned and yea, I was a bit freaked. Though, walking the streets of Prague DID calm me down. Especially the cafes on every corner ;) TODAY THOUGH... we take the train from Prague to Katowice (about 7 hrs) THEN to Krakow JUST before sunset. THANK GOD. This place is so much more beautiful than I could have even imagined! Mom says she feels at home and never wants to leave...and I can't quite blame her! We pull up to the hotel and my nerves were all wonky because of the hotel in Prague. I was terrified that I had mussed up the whole damn thing! ... read more

From the title, you can guess that one of us (Kelli, Kassie, or Momma Jo) lost a shoe.... most of you will assume it was me....BUT FOR ONCE YOU ARE WRONG! MUAHAHAHAHHAHA! But that's jumping ahead...I'll get to that in a minute. First, Mom and I had a great flight in to Germany and were met by Gabe :) Yay! we got to spend one night at his place and he took all 3 of us for a good German dinner. We all had schnitzel. ;) Gabe really has gotten into the German way of driving...that's for sure! but we really did have a great time visiting with him for the night before we headed to Prague. THIS is where the shoe story kicks in....We get to Praha central station and mom drops her shoe down ... read more

Today, My mom and I are heading to Germany. I'm really hoping to get to see Gabe while we're there but we're only really there for about a day and then we'll be back in Frankfurt when we get ready to leave. I'm sure we'll have tons of pix and I'll be keeping up everyone up to date the best as possible. It's a whirlwind trip....Germany, Czech Republic AND Poland. 8 days. Mom, Kassie, and Me! Well, be sure to check back here in about a day or two! Lotsa Love! Kelli Jo... read more

Yep...I've been here for a few weeks now and I've got a few more to go! it's not bad ;) ANYWAY, the big reason for this post is because I will be taking a short vacation when I get home....making it 4 continents I've been in in a year! THAT'S my kind of year. I am heading to Poland. The dates are not set yet because I don't know what day I'm getting home and I NEED to know that before I go and schedule anything. Mary said she may be able to go with me---we'll see :) But here's the basic idea of what I'm doing: Flying to Warsaw, Poland, spending 2 days there @ a Hostel and visiting what's left of the Ghetto, then taking a train to Krakow where I'll spend the rest ... read more

Salvador is so cool!

This is a crazy city! first, let me tell you that Maryland or Korean drivers got NOTHING on Salvadorians... After 10pm you can go thru red lights as long as no one is coming....and some do it even when there is. THe city itself has a rich African and South American blend. it's great! There's a cool light house right down the street from my hotel, the historic downtown is great, and I don't have digital pix of that because my camera died, but I will have pix in a few days I will have pix when they are developed. There is a square that has a church on each end. St. Francis of Assisi and a huge cathedral on the other side. St. Francis church was bathed in gold! I couldnt take pix in there ... read more

Manaus is yummy!

I think I got bit by something in the jungle. I remember something picking my ankle but didn’t think much about it. When I got to my hotel, I forgot to mention yesterday that I started getting a small patch of hives on my hands. It happens to me a lot so I didn’t think anything of it. Today though, I woke up with my hands so swollen I couldn’t make fists or hold a pen. I figured I took my meds and some aspirin and eventually it’d go away. SO I checked out of my hotel and met up with my tour guides for the day. WOW. Finally, ppl my age and cute ;) they were awesome…Fabricio and Michael. They took me to the Amazon Theatre, that’s absolutely gorgeous with an interesting history. Manaus itself ... read more

Farewell Amazon!

Today, I woke up still with my fever and feeling much worse. I am still ignoring this though. Today I am going back hiking in the jungle to visit a native tribe! (please don’t let me see spiders today….) I didn’t take too many pix today because I was just still in amazement of being in the jungle. Today though, I was trying to remember to breathe. This cold has got me all sorts of messed up and congested. After Breakfast my guide, Andrei, takes me on another canoe to visit the tribe. We have a short hike, come to the tree we have to hit and he hits it 4 times: we’re visitors and soon a tribe person will come greet us and take us to the tribe. (and apparently this particular tribesman loves ... read more
