Attending DistribuTech from Jan 20th thru 24th. Mostly saw inside of the Convention Center... par for the course. We had some fun at night taking the trolley to Ybor. Went to some fun resturants. One last Trip of the year... Deb & I ventured out to New Orleans bright and early on Sunday morning to attend PowerGen. By the time we arrived, it was mid-afternoon and the sun was soon setting. The weather was unusually warm, so we took some time to settle into the hotel & then venture out in to the French Quarter - which turned out to be only a block away from the Hotel. Leaving the Keys, we drove to our next destination -- a time-share in Orlando. Turned out that each of us got our own suite for a room! Irene & Carl (Nicole's folks) were in Orlando, so we met them for dinner that evening, then later tried to watch a movie. Had a bit of troubles with the surround sound, so 2 guys came out to fix it from maintinence. Took probably 20+ minutes, and it was already 11pm, so Carl & Irene went back to their hotel. To get a bit of warm fun in the sun, Nicole & I traveled down to Florida on a red-eye flight Thanksgiving evening. Wasn't exactly the most "quiet" of red-eye's. There was lots of activity going on in the cabin. A little girl sitting enxt to Nicole kept getting air-sick - making several trips to the lavoratory. ANd the flight attendent people kept bumping into arms & legs in the aisles. None the less, Florida was beckoning our attention once landed. Well, we tried to get all the girls on a road-trip to Victoria last year before Jen had her baby & Kerry had a bit more flexible schedule, but it just never happened. So Nicole & I just picked a date before the Holidays this year and head up to Victoria for the weekend. There was a mix-up on the ferry schedule, but we eventually we made it up for a quick stay. Took several trips this September for campus recruiting: Univ. of Illinois, University of Iowa, Clemson, & Arizonia State. Can quantify it by saying that I got to know several of the airports rather well. The new wing that Northwest sponsored in Detroit was great -- they've got an infinity pool that has dancing water spouts! Me & several other weary travelers stood in the line to get coffee mesmorized by it. Am very thankful for FREE wi-fi spots in some of these airports. [View Full Entry]

We are fast approaching our last hours in Rome... It took us 3 hours to get in & figure out our way form the B&B to the train station to return the car. Yesterday we hit the Vatican -- as you saw in the last blog entry. THe Sisteen Chapel is amazing!! Met up with Bryon & Amy Surace last night. We went on the evening "rick Steeves" walk ... and it started to rain. Not so lively of a crowd, but very fun.
