No.. not trying to get Rae out of the photo. The ledge was THAT narrow!
Hi all. Well Raeann and I arrived safely back home about a week ago. Pretty smooth trip across MT, ND, MN,WI to get to I-39/74 and home. All in all we are very happy with the trip. Raeann got her first whitewater, we saw AHHlaska +. Dodge averaged over 12 MPG, we put in 10,600 miles and saw many parts of this wonderful blue ball we all live on. People all along the way were friendly and interesting. I now have to triage about 1000 pictures and several video segments! As soon as we returned home we had another (now resolved) [View Full Entry]

Top speed 12 MPH, mileage we didn't ask. Setting on a bunch of ice.
Hi all. Posting from Beautiful Glacier National Park. The travel through Jasper and down the Canadian Rockies was just gorgeous! Many memorable sights and sounds. In Banff NP we got one of our best camping spots of the trip.. in their overflow no less. Gently sloped valley nestled between two mountain ranges, slowly sinking sun. Very nice. At least it’s getting dark here! Man! For a while I thought Alaska was going to drive me nuts… on the night of 6/21 there was just too much light. Here in Montana it’s nicely dark by midnight or so. Raeann and I are [View Full Entry]

As usual, the pics don't do it justice. The water was from a full and well used pallette.
Hi all. Happy Canada Day to all our north of the border friends! As you know from the last post. Raeann and I are continuing our trip home through Jasper and Banff, Alberta without our fearless leader. One things for sure, now Rae and I have more room. This little Dodge van is great for 2! Sorry to see Dad go, but he's back home with Mary receiving both her and the docs loving care and the reports are good. I have to tell you, I'm 21 years younger than Dad and I am getting pretty tired myself. Into our 6th [View Full Entry]

Dad steps on Alaskan soil for the first time, way back in Ketchikan.
Greetings from Yukon Territory! It feels like we’ve been here a long time—we’ve run into some trouble, and the road is feeling long. Dad’s been feeling homesick for a while, and that eventually translated into physically sick. We took him to see a doctor in the little Yukon town of Watson River, and he had a heart flutter. So he is leaving on a jet plane—back to US medical care, back to his beloved Mary. We put him on a plane this morning, Monday June 25. He’s doing better and I really believe getting back to resting well in his own [View Full Entry]

Can you hear the whine of the skeeters?
North, to ..? Hello folks, Raeann here. Scott’s turned the blog over to me for an entry or two. We left Denali the morning of June 20, Arctic Circle Bound—to be in the land where the sun never sets, above 67 degrees North on the Summer Solstice. Moving north, skirting Fairbanks on the Elliot Highway, we were fearless and full of cheer. A few hours later we came to the fork in the road. The way to the right was the Dalton Highway, set to bring us 115.5 miles later, to the Arctic Circle. We made the turn. The paved road [View Full Entry]

Back in Denali after seeing the Seward area with Juls. Actually walked up to and touched a glacier yesterday. The skeeters in the interior are pretty BAD! Screening and lots of swishing are keeping them at bay, but DANG they DO NOT taste good in my oatmeal. Need 3 hands to eat!!! Here enjoying the park now and travel to Fairbanks for hot springs, solstice above the artic circle, etc. Feels like we are a week or so from starting back (a 2 week process minimum). A wonderful travel and family adventure so far. Looking forward to the darkless day on [View Full Entry]

Only a couple more days with Huls before her flight bacl to Chi-town... making the most of it!! Peace Scott [View Full Entry]

Forgot to share this one. Campsite in the Yukon.
Hi all A wonderful trip over T-pass and down the Mantanuska Valley. Camped at the base of Mantanuska Glacier. BURN BAN.. first night without a cozy fire. T’s warm though. Anchorage was having it’s Spring Fling type celebration today. Artisans, performers, eats. Raeann and I both purchased some work by a Maui born women Mary Morrieria (?SP) who works magic in blue and purple shades. I’ll need to free up some wall space at home! Anchorage is only UrbaignX2, so the city drives and navigates pretty easily. Tonight Julia Arrives. Can’t wait to see her and [View Full Entry]
