Foot on FiftyDad steps on Alaskan soil for the first time, way back in Ketchikan.
Greetings from Yukon Territory! It feels like we’ve been here a long time—we’ve run into some trouble, and the road is feeling long.
Dad’s been feeling homesick for a while, and that eventually translated into physically sick. We took him to see a doctor in the little Yukon town of Watson River, and he had a heart flutter. So he is leaving on a jet plane—back to US medical care, back to his beloved Mary. We put him on a plane this morning, Monday June 25.
He’s doing better and I really believe getting back to resting well in his own bed, under Mary’s loving care, will go a long, long way towards mending his condition.
Back on the Yukon front, Scott and I will carry on with the trip. We’ve got a lot of miles to go to get the van home, and we still have travel dreams! So look for happier updates in the next few days, once we know Dad is safely home and we get back underway.
We love you, Dad! Scott and I will always treasure having shared this time and adventure with you. It was an honor to be there when you put foot down in state number fifty, not just because that’s some arbitrary milestone, but because it represents a life of above average adventure and drive to discover the world around you. Thanks for sharing your love of life, and passing it on!

Stay safe- no bears I hope. Over here a brown bear just got shot down in Germany, first bear they had seen in years eating sheep and such, it just wasn't tolerated. Kinda sad, huh?
Back to work
Love you both
