Today we took the train from Buffalo to Albany, since the wether was not good for hitchhiking. As some people told us already before the trains are not quite in time and also our train was almost an hour late. But there are very comfortable and have a good service on board. We have the 4th November now and we are in Buffalo,NY with rain the whole day and cold windy whether. It's clearly feel able that winter is coming. So we decided to have a relaxed day on our first couch. In the morning we went to the Laundry and did a little shopping too. We bought a phone so we are able to call and be called while we are traveling, since even for prepaid you need to buy once a mobil phone. The afternoon we spend with take-away-food and fortune cookies in front of the TV with one movie after an other. 1st of November: We walked from the IICD Campus to the close by road M-62, from where we started Hitchhiking towards Cleveland, so our goal was app. 420miles. The first ride we got from an afro-american lady, who spends her time with lots of volunteer work to Elkhart, INDIANA. From there we have been picked up by a guy named Hans Heintzelman, who has Irish forefathers. He and his little son took us to Angola,IN. Kent, who was driving us to Oakshade,OH gave us the experience of driving in and old big american Buick. After we got stuck for a while in front of a little house, a women living in that house gave us together with her husband a ride to Toledo, where from we got our last ride that day to Cleveland. We arrived on Monday afternoon to Chicago, IL. We took the bus to South Bend, Indiana where we got picked up from our hosts from IICD Michigan and finally arrived at 23:00 local time. On Tuesday morning we went to a college close by. Luckily we got a guide who could show us around the campus. Most impressed we were by the activity rooms and dorms, which are obviously new, well equiped and like the rest of the facilities at a high standard. One thing the college is very proud of is the close connection between students an teachers, what makes them to one of the most successful colleges in the nation.
